    Speaking of weird parents....

    http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/...an-Nation.html

Heath and Deborah Campbell, who named two of their children Adolf Hitler and JoyceLynn Aryan Nation, are claiming that a court vindicated them of all abuse allegations last month. But after 33 months in foster care, the children are still not home.

New Jersey Family Court officials had no comment Tuesday.

“Actually, the judge and DYFS told us that there was no evidence of abuse and that it was the names! They were taken over the children's names,” Heath Campbell told NBC 10 Tuesday.

Court records last year stated that the children were not removed from the home because of their names, but because of tangible evidence of abuse or neglect.

Protesting the fact that they still don't have their kids, the Campbells picketed with three other people outside of child services offices in Flemington, N.J. Tuesday. The couple spoke exclusively to NBC 10, saying that the state has no right to keep their children away from them now that the court allegedly ruled that the kids were taken away without cause.

I don’t sleep, I don’t eat much. I miss my kids. Miss their pitter patters on the floor,” Heath Campbell told NBC 10’s Doug Shimell. “It’s hard. I fall asleep with their pictures.”

The Campbell’s three small children were removed from their Holland Township home by the state in January 2009 after they asked a grocery store in Greenwich, N.J., to write “Adolf Hitler” on their son’s birthday cake.

Though a local Wal-Mart honored the birthday cake request, Adolf Hitler Campbell and siblings JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell and Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie Campbell were put into foster care.

“They beg to come home all of the time,” Deborah told NBC 10 Tuesday. “They beg to see their dad, they want to see their dad all the time.”

While the Campbells maintained from the beginning that the only reason their children were taken away is because of their given names, New Jersey court documents stated last year that there was alleged abuse and parental incompetence.

A New Jersey appeals court ruled in August 2010 that there was sufficient evidence of abuse or neglect because of domestic violence in the home, and though there was a gag order for both parties in the case (which the Campbells have broken multiple times to deny the allegations), authorities have stated in the past that putting the children into the foster system had nothing to do with their names.

Court records stated last year that both parents were victims of childhood abuse and both were unemployed and suffering from unspecified physical and psychological disabilities.

The Campbells say that a judge will decide by early December if the kids will come home.

"Can't wait for the decision," Heath Campbell said Tuesday. "Can't wait for them to come home."

I feel there is more to this story.

Interesting......gag order...parents violate the gag order, the DFS doesn't.

Curious to see how the jusdge rules. A lot of information missing here.

The situation has been going on for over 2 years (the kids have been in foster care for 33 months) but this story is from a couple weeks ago. The parents are supposed to find out if they get their kids back in Dec.

Would not do for me to be the judge in that case.

    1. Civil penalty, whatever is allowed, for violating the gag order.
    2. Either change the kids' names or relinquish all parental rights. (IMNSHO, naming a child after one of the most infamous men in history is abuse)
    3. Get a job and get counseling before the children are returned to the home.

Like someone else said; there is more to this story.

I question their ability as parents. But I also want to know on what grounds the government took their children. What is the alleged abuse and why is there a gag order?

A New Jersey appeals court ruled in August 2010 that there was sufficient evidence of abuse or neglect because of domestic violence in the home
This is the same line of reasoning as what's becoming more and more common in cases where parents are arrested for DUI with their kids in the car with them - besides the DUI charge they get slapped with a felony child neglect charge. It's pretty much a given that there is no real penalty for first and even second DUI convictions, but felony child neglect will get you 2 years in a heartbeat. That will teach you to behave!

Then the court throws out the notion that because the parents were raised in allegedly abusive homes they are abusive themselves.

Then the court enters a gag order against the parents. By law neither the court nor DYFS may release information about clients without the client's written permission, and even then certain information about adults and especially children cannot be released. But there is no law preventing the parents from releasing information about themselves, regardless of the source or even regardless of how the information was obtained. The gag order does nothing I can imagine to further justice or the welfare of the children - it's just there to try and punish the parents for not picking different names.

If these parents can rationally be prosecuted over the names they gave their children then we should have seen the parents of lots more children with oddball names in court for the abuse those parents inflicted on their kids with ******* names or stupid spellings. But did anybody rush to protect little Moon Unit or poor Dweizel, among so many others?

If those kids can be left unmolested to bear the burden of their names these kids should be left alone, too.

    stay safe.

I'm just interested to know what the 'alleged' abuses were.

Naming the kid Adolph may be asinine, but it's not illegal.

Being a socialist may go against everything this country stands for, but again, it's not illegal.

Just waiting to see if this is a true case of abuse, or a simple case of government punishing people for exercising their 1A.

IMO, naming your child to make a political or social statement is abusive-mentally abusive. What if the child rejects that statement later in life? They're still stuck with the name.

Reminds me of the couple that named their kid Sarah Palin McCain or whatever it was. She'll be given hell for the rest of her life. And so will these two kids.

Like Skidmark said, nobody is rushing to save Moon Unit and Dweezle from the names their parents gave them. There are parents who still name their kids Mervin despite the hell that kid is going to get in High School. In the grand scheme of things Adolph isn't any different.

When kids grow up they can change their name to whatever they want.

Yeah, but those names aren't making a political statement (that I know of. Mervin may be over my head). Many people embrace their unique name. My sister named her kid Parsla, which is a Scandanavian word for snowflake. It's strange, but you can't disagree with "snowflake"-it's not a statement.

Perhaps, but its not illegal to name a kid Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Timothy McVeh, Joseph Stalin, or Charles Manson.

Just because we don't agree with the statement doesn't mean we can dictate what name a parent can bestow on their child.

I never said that we should dictate. But that doesn't mean that I think it's right.
