So there I was minding my own business. Just sat down with a financial advisory when the branch manager of Chase Bank at the McGilvery and 164th
street Fred Meyer. She very politely informed me of the illegalities of my fopaux concerning my OC. She said " the next time your here please understand that we are a federal building. It is illegal to have a gun in here.
Because I was there on a mission for someone else I thanked her and went on with my business.
My goal in these situations is not to be confrontational but to gather intel if you will and come back if they are wrong or just ignorant.
Now it is my turn to be very polite in pointing out her fopaux.

If it's illegal how come she's gonna let you go, except for 'next time'? Do you say 'oh it's illegal to rob a bank, so next time, open an account and draw out money'? No.

So she was bluffing and she knew it.

Just because the government helped bail them out, or may own parts of the bank,
it is NOT a federal building.
carry on.

A bank is not a federal building. Only your money is federally insured. Chase just like the Wells Fargo I OC in all the time are private facilities. Can they still trespass you? Yes, but not because it is a "federal building".

I've OC'd in 5+ different Chase banks (before I left them for other reasons) no one ever said anything. Agreed, banks are private not federal.

Are they going to escort you so nothing happens? We all know the answer!!

I must be very polite and point out that any fopaux was, in fact, a faux pas.

What I would do is return and ask for the same manager, armed with info that is contrary to her statements.

Politely tell her something like "It's commonly thought that banks are Federal property but here is some info I thought you might find interesting....."

You will quickly be able to discern if she did truly mistakenly believe that or if she is just an anti. Even if she is an anti who doesn't like guns, she could be a reasonable one that will accept the information and even allow you to continue business.

I had one young lady at Starbucks tell me she hates guns, I asked her why, I countered every argument she made with a well reasoned statement of fact or an illustration that showed her hate was unfounded. Did she stop hating guns? I don't think so but she now gives me my coffee with a smile on her face and some small talk.

One thing I love to bring out to females is that statistically women are victims of crime more than men, because criminals view them as easier prey. Yet a firearm quickly puts the odds in her favor.

My firearms training business has Chase as its bank. While I was not OC at the time, the manager has once personally handled my transaction and expressed his desire to me to once day get his CC permit. I should OC in there next time.

I would ask to be directed to the offices of the federal agent(s) who operate out of that building, or if no such office exists, I would ask what federal agency owns the building and leases it to the bank.
