Maybe Total Firearms (Holt) isn't so anti-OC?

Now it is on the net for all to see. No retracting that statement now, Total Firearms. Let the OCing commence. Are the deals and staff good enough to patronize the store, again, though?

No, they have a lot of guns (at very high prices)and a unfriendly staff. My advice, try all the guns in the store and find the one you like. Then, drive 5 miles south and have the guys at Not Just Guns order it for you for 25%-50% cheeper.

total is expensive on alot of guns, but they have better selection and prices on ammunition, furniture and other accessories and are better to do a transfer through than Not Just Guns, plus they have the only indoor range in the area (except the .22 only range at MSU) and a private, stocked lake you can fish on, and fishing supplies.

Personally, I like Not Just Guns better.. and Classic Arms.. but Total is a great store no matter what anyone says.. Decent indoor range... I have never found the staff to be unfriendly or not helpful... Glad to hear they're allowing OCers in there...

I'm surprised to see you say they have lower than NJG prices on ammo though... I"ve found NJG to be the lowest in town... with maybe the exception of some meijer/wal-tuckey deals...

well the only ammo i usually buy locally is 16 ga. shotgun ammo, which for birdshot is usually about $8 at total and $10 at NJG

only staff ive found that was rude at total always is the older guy(50s im assuming) with grey hair, mike or mark i believe? but i havent seen him around in months, the woman and the young guy are always nice there to me

my personal favorite in the area for service is Classic, especially since im black powdering now, but they're lack of hours is the usual deal breaker

I've gotten REALLY good customer service from the owner lady and a couple other poeple at Classic... so that's good in my book... their prices are up there though... but I try to suport the locals when I can.

I love it when a lady gives "REALLY good customer service"!

I might have to make the trip all the way to Classic and find out for myself.

I guess I never knew there was a problem with OC there. I do it every time I go. Not a word has been said.

The owner lady is like 65. Not sure what kind of "service" you're in to... but she just helped me find a holster... :)

The run the big gun show circuit in the area that is NO GUNS allowed, and blame it on insurance. Other gun show owners (2 different shows that I know off) don't use that as an excuse and let you carry so they are either buying insurance at the wrong place or are really full of excuses.

What they're actually saying is:

'Its the insurance (which is more expensive, and that would cut into our profits, so we're selling out your rights for the Almighty Dollar)'

All Hail the Almighty Dollar!

Screw 'em before they screw you. No guns, no money.

As soon as everyone grows a pair, and the anti-2A gun shows see their business dry up, they'll see the light.

I have been Total Firearms many times and always they seem to ask me if I have a pistol on me. When I say "yes" they ask me to take it back to the car or to leave. Very rude and unprofessional in my opinion. The prices are always above everyone elses in the area and selling a gun there is a ripoff. I recently tried to sell my Taurus there and they said they would give me $50 for it. I said I don't think so, and that's almost insulting and I immediatly left. I don't know about anyone else but I'll never go back there again.

What Tyler said, but I will provide my own version.

I walked into the store Openly Carrying. We booked a lane for the two of us. I planned to shoot my new (encased/locked) LC9. When we got escorted to the range, I explained to Rick (preemptively, knowing how -- friendly -- he is at times), that I planned to shoot the LC9 I have in the case and not touch the XDm on my hip.

Rick proceeded to tell me I can't Open Carry in their store. He asked if I had a CPL, I said I did. He said I'd need to cover it up (being there to shoot and not to make a political statement and get kicked out, I complied). After we left the range I spoke to the first non-Rick employee I saw. I asked him who the manager was this evening. He pointed me to the man.

I approached the guy, told him who I am (MOC Pres) and explained to him that we understood from their Facebook page (turns out, he did the posting) that OC was allowed in their store. I also explained that Rick just told me to "cover up". I said "I know from your Facebook page you have some employees that are confused about the policy. I just wanted to clarify your policy with you and let you know you have some employees who are still confused." He told me he'd have it taken care of by the time I came in next. He also added that as long as it stays holstered, they consider it "encased". They only have a problem when some guy comes in and pulls the gun out of his holster and says "HEY! Got a magazine for this?!" (while pointing it at their employee or otherwise handling it improperly). I told him I can appreciate and share his concern about such situations. I shook his hand and thanked him.

I have no problem helping businesses working out their growing pains.

So what about CC? Because the sign outside says no ammunition be brought inside or something like that. The few times I have carried in there has been open carry minus the mag which I leave in the car.

I was just following what the sign said. I really don't see how that could be thought of as "silly" but OK. Just trying to find someone to answer my question. I don't go there very much because the last time I was there , I was treated rather poorly and their customer service rather sucks. In my opinion, they look down upon their customers as if they are all stupid. Especially when trying to ask a question. Maybe this is just my experience but that's how I feel.
