Bullshi#.

The sign basically says the police wont protect you.......WTF.

"and does not offer protection against the actions of violators"

If the sign says basically that police wont protect you, isnt that all the more reason to go armed in the building.

The city in writing is making a legal statement that youre not protected, isnt the moto of the police "to protect and serve"?

Maybe a better message would be "dont bother calling 911, we dont care because we a pussies."

I say FEND FOR YOURSELF.

A failure in the way the law was written was that the sign wording was not in the law.

I am seeing some stupid signs popping up that add unnecessary items to the signs.

some states have wording in their law. if the sign does not conform to the law its not valid.

If the law must allow signs then they should only be limited to one of two versions.

1. open carry of firearms or weapons not allowed on these premises.

2. firearms or weapons not allowed on these premises.

“I’m not sure legally what the parameters are, but we’re making it well known we don’t want guns in city facilities.”

So you don't even know what you are doing?! :banghead:

So Wisconsin doesn't have a firearm preemption law???

I thought that if you post a sign you assume responsibility for any act against someone?

We do, 66.0409. Municipalities cannot make any ordinance more restrictive than state law, but yet, under Act 35, they can post. However, I and others have said, they cannot post without an ordinance. I don't think this executive order would hold up in a court of law.

i'd sue if i was there, unarmed, and something happened if nothing else but for entertainment value, ofcourse by then the city and mayor may be broke even more from the mayor's liable slander suit against him.

No suprise here...

This is just another in a long line of issues for the City of Racine. I moved out of the city years ago because of this mentality [you owe us]. Moved my business a few years later and employ people mostly from other communities now. When I commute, I go around the city and spend my money elsewhere when possible.

I grew up here and always thought it would mean something:(. Nothing new, no new ideas, just 'hope and same'. Sad.

I don't beleive I should disrespect the office here. Ask me in person sometime and I'll tell you what I really think:shocker:.

Hhmmpf.

No. The law says if they don't post, they are immune to liability from that decision. That's it.

I suspect in order to "win" a liability claim against a posted business, one would have to:

- be injured in such posted place....
- survive...
- show that they would have been carrying at that particular time, but for the sign
- show that it was likely that carrying would have prevented the injury.
- probably more.

Suppose someone followed you in and shot you in the back. It would be very difficult to cast blame on the biz for that.

Maybe the mayor should be "escorted " to a "seedy" part of his own city; and be allowed to make his way back home without the burden of electronics, cash, and/or cars...then ask him how he feels about the 2A.

Only have to go a few blocks from city hall. Racine is a dump. I lived there for years.
