The Nazis actually relaxed gun control--except for Jews, Gypsies, etc.
You are correct. They repealed the requirement for a purchase permit for long guns. They lowered the age to legally own or possess a firearm from 20 to 18. They had carry permits. They repealed limitations on the number of firearms and ammo you could have in your possession.
But they still had national registration, and the licensing for carry was VERY stringent and arbitrary.
Interestingly enough, the strict "gun control" laws in Germany enacted between WWI and the rise of the National Socialists were in large part proposed, pushed, and endorsed by leftist Jewish politicians. Talk about irony--the Jewish politicians in Germany were actually more pro-gun-control than the Nazis themselves.
The people who were exempt from firearms ownership under the Third Reich were barred firearms ownership because they were not recognized as German Citizens. They didn't allow ANY non-citizen to own firearms, be they English, French, Spanish, American, Jewish, Gypsy, or whatever.
Which IS more stringent than the way we run things here in the US--resident aliens CAN own firearms in the USA, and our own government even goes so far as to supply shipping container-loads of firearms to "freelance pharmaceutical distributors" in foreign nations. Not only do we let non-residents have guns in the US, we go so far as to arm non-citizens when they are living and working in completely different nations outside our borders, so that Washington can use foreigner's illegal possession and use of firearms to influence US Policy...
At least WWII-Germany never exported weapons to it's "enemies".
But they did BUY a LOT of technology from their enemies--IBM, GM, Coca Cola, etc.
Just sayin'...
