:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: And does anyone wonder why I cant take those yahoos seriously? (beyond the serious terrorism threat, of course..)

Prostitution, porn, and premarital sex, oh my!

These are just some of the consequences that will befall Saudi Arabia if women are allowed to drive, according to a report prepared by prominent conservative scholar Kamal Subhi, the BBC reported.

In a report presented to the country's legislative assembly, the Shura Council, Subhi warns that letting women take the wheel will encourage pornography and prostitution, and lead to increased rates of divorce, homosexuality, and sex before marriage -- leading to a shortage of virgin brides.

The report signals increased pressure on King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, 87, to maintain the law prohibiting women from driving, according to the Associated Press.

Women have already defied Saudi Arabia's driving ban in high profile protests several times this year.

Who cares? In a few hours he will delete his post anyway...

And on a side note... If the women of SA are not currently working in the porn industry... Then all the porn SA men watch features ONLY men? On men?

:shocker:

No wonder they hate women. Women are the competition.

Maybe, but historically, it has been men who drive the porn and prostitution industries ... of course, that little factoid would interfere with SA keeping women "in their place"

And, Islamists want to bring this law to MY country? Not on my watch!

I couldn't agree with that report more. Except for the claim that letting them drive is the root cause of their future fears. And that a shortage of virgin brides will cause Islam to fail.

Hmm...

In that case, so long as that's what they believe, I say let the women drive!

Quick question: Have any of you actually lived in the "Magical" Kingdom of Saudi Arabia?

I did. For two of the longest years of my life.

The general attitude is that women are for producing a male heir only. I would venture that the majority of Saudi men take their "pleasure" from other men and from boys. Especially those men in the "upper" classes.

Think about it. Boys are kept separate from women, except for their mothers and sisters, from the time they are ten or twelve year old.

By the way, they "encourage" their twelve-year-old daughters to marry, sometimes to men in their sixties!!

I think I just vomited in my mouth. In an open a free society you are going to get all sorts including degenerates. Comes with the territory. A 9MM stops them though.

other cultures always seem 'different'

as i am sure our culture appears and is to those citizens from far away parts of the world. I shall never forget the time i took a British citizen who was visiting me in denver, shooting my collection of handguns at the range.

yes sfc (were you on DAO duty?), been there, and done that in multiple places from the middle of the atlantic to the far east from the arctic to the cape for over 14 years and enjoyed each and every culture i was immersed in...as i did not judge nor try to change their customs while i walked among them. provides a different perspective on life and it's decisions.

remember the cleric is espousing what they have been taught to believe in, just as those who promote and 'zealously' defend our rights.

Wabbit, that is great, but as a man, you had an entirely different perspective and experience than a woman would have had.

As an American citizen, I only have my civil rights as long as every other man in America is ready and willing to defend and protect those rights.

As a woman, we understand the equalization Mr. Samuel Colt has placed in our hands in a way men simply don't have to consider. We are physically weaker and more vulnerable because of our physiology. For the first time in history, women in the US now have access to the means and the supporting laws to take their own protection in their own hands instead of having to rely upon a husband, father or brother to provide physical protection.

All of you can say that "they are only believing what they are taught" but have you truely considered where those teachings come from? They are based in a religion that demands the forcible conversion or death of anyone not of their religion. It demands that women and girl children be killed for bringing shame upon the MEN ... and the victim of rape is more often than not blamed for the crime and imprisoned or killed while the men go free.

Yes, the Catholic church once practiced horrific Inquisitions and torture, Christians perpetuated the Witch Hunts of the (1500s-1600s?) but American Christians have disavowed using the scripture to promulgate such acts. Our current evolution of the Bill of Rights could prevent that from happening again, but it has taken 200+ years for the many aspects of applying the Bill of Rights in the varied instances. I can tell you that the Bill of Rights is applied somewhat differently today than it was in the 1960s ... some applications better, some not so much. Remember, it wasn't that long ago that a grown, married woman had to get permission from her husband before a physician would prescribe birth control, and it was vehemently restricted from unmarried women. Yep, we've come a long way, baby.

Oh, I wouldn't count on that one.

Remember that religion has a long history of being used to control people.

As soon as the Saudi financial institutions and government figure out that women comprise half of the potential borrowers and tax base, they'll give them some "freedom". Those criminals won't discriminate based on sex, that's for sure.

I could care less what cultural movements are dominant in other countries. We should stay the hell out.

I don't know about the part of women being weaker and more vulberable... My female-friend is stronger, and tougher than me, and get her riled up and she could hog tie me even though I'm a man~ I've had a couple female-friends in the past who have helped me in dangerous situations, being stronger and more agile than myself. Though it destroyed my pride of a woman defending and protecting me, it changed my perceptive with them. On a side note, ever been a pride festival? Christ, some of the girls I've hanged out with there looked strong enough to put a MMA fighter in his place xD

Just like gay marriage will lead to beastiality, and pedophilia? You are right, I can't take those people seriously either OP. Wait, you aren't talking about Christians, you were talking about Islamist. Funny, they are much more alike that I thought they were.

Back to the the meat and potatoes of this: These fear-mongering tactics are for the purposes of controlling humans. Unfortunately, so many go running to, and walk line-step with such not-sence.
