Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich BOTH have major inconsistencies when it comes to the 2nd Amendment.

Romney’s own words - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kk1bJOpYUqE

National Association For Gun Rights on Newt - http://www.nationalgunrights.org/the-inconvenient-truth-about-newt/

In contrast Ron Paul stands Very Tall when it comes to consistent support for the 2nd Amendment.

The Montana Shooting Sports Association has endorsed Ron Paul for the Republican nomination for President, and the Gun Owners of America gives Ron Paul an A+ rating.

(Perry and Bachmann are both solid 2nd choices, and Santorum a distant 3rd – but Newt Romney aren’t much better than Obama. Ron Paul is the only one of the candidates to get an A+ rating from the Gun Owners of America http://gunowners.org/2012presidential.htm )

There are other issues equally, if not more important than a candidate's stance on our 2A rights. About half of all Americans fully support 2A, but very few of those folks have what it takes to be President of the United States.

However, few things say more about a candidate's beliefs with respect to empowering the people vs stripping their rights, than does their position on our Second Amendment rights!

This is true and something I have argued for some time. The Second Amendment can easily serve as a litmus test to potential candidates as to their stance on not only this amendment but their core beliefs and ideas about freedom and liberty in general. While I am not a single issue voter, I certainly do rate a candidate's position on the Second Amendment very high and even if a candidate had every other thing positive in his corner, if he fails the Second Amendment test, my antenna go up immediately.
