We are now running on a new, and hopefully much-improved, server. In addition we are also on new forum software. Any move entails a lot of technical details and I suspect we will encounter a few issues as the new server goes live. Please be patient with us. It will be worth it! :)
Please help by posting all issues here.
The forum will be down for about an hour this weekend for maintenance. I apologize for the inconvenience.
Aside from the guy being loopy, which is sad, this incident is funny.
(And instructive, for those who think electric 'weapons' will protect them.)
Officers tried to arrest the man, but he kept swinging the light saber at them... One tried to use his Taser on the suspect but the device didn't work.
Another officer used his Taser and made contact, but the man knocked one of the wires away with the light saber.
The officers finally arrested the man after grabbing him and pinning him to the ground.
... None of the victims of the light saber assault needed medical attention.
I'm also interested in the officers' belief that an electric shock (which has, in some people, caused death) is a lesser use of force than "grabbing him and pinning him to the ground". Certainly the first is safer for the officers.
I am glad they did not give this man a .40 cal perforation but fighting with the cops is asking for it. Luckily for him, they treated the threat appropriately and physically subdued him.
Not to make light of the issue, but if there is video, it should be hilarious!
