For the past few days, I get notified by my AV software of malicious attempts to access my computer. When I receive this notice, this is the only site open, there are no other apps open.

Anybody experience this ? You are running AV software aren't you?

Yes, my protective package has also notified me of several attempts with the sender ".com" and IP address and they seem to come when I am using this or an auto enthusiast site. For what it's worth, I do an update when first going in anytime the last update is over a half hour ago.

I hope John cleans it up soon. That can spell the end of a web site. I was on a very popular photography site a while back that got a virus, Everyone was affraid to get on it because repeated attempts at cleanup failed. It just kept showing up.

It really doesn't surprise me thogh considering all the ad crap and trolls floating around here now.

Doug, are you getting it every time you come on?

I've been on the Apple but just switched over to one of the windows machines to see if I got the warning. I didn't.

Hmmmmm.... I am on this site every day, from several different computers, and I have yet to encounter any kind of virus on this site. My AV software does not even alert to preventive actions.

In trying to read your post, sir, it occurs to me that your current level of keyboard expertise, spelling ability and grammar may somehow be contributing to the incidence of infection you are experiencing. Just sayin' ...

All the following online scanners say this site is clean...

The folks who claim there is malware on this page are more than likely just seeing malware they already have installed become activated on this page due to it using forum software that is standard (vBulletin)

I'd recommend a tool called "HijackThis".

I've found it to be the most effective utility at removing malware.

All too often the malware scanners and anti-virus software that is floating around the Internet actually leads to more infections.

Randomly. A day or so between notifications. I notified site admins on first occurrence.

Probably an infected rotating banner ad.

That's one of the scanners I have. I'm kind of picky about AV software because of the sheer size of my externals. Getting a virus on one o them would be a disaster.

I'm back on Linux now. I'm afraid to hook up the externals and start work until I double check everything.

Right in the screencap..

Fidral.com

That is not opencarry.org

That doesn't mean that you don't already have a hook that is getting triggered from an ad.

Edit : Also, using IE and Norton? You aren't protecting yourself very well. May as well be running around naked.
