I live in South Ms 91 miles south of Jackson near McComb. I have to go to Brookhaven to apply and as of the past 6 months have been on disability for depression and I don't see a psychiatrist but I have a mental health doctor I see every 3 months and he has me on antidepressants which I take only before bed to stop the depression. I am wondering if it would be hard for me to get my permit to carry my pistol. It's a Springfield XD .45 Service model. I read the law:
§ 45-9-101. License to carry stun gun, concealed pistol or revolver
(2) The Department of Public Safety shall issue a license if the applicant:
(i) Has not been voluntarily or involuntarily committed to a mental institution or mental health treatment facility unless he possesses a certificate from a psychiatrist licensed in this state that he has not suffered from disability for a period of five (5) years;
I have not been in a mental institution or go to a psychiatrist and only have been on disability for 6 months. I got on disability because the depression was making me not able to hold a job. I don't hear voices or anything like that. If there are anyone here that lives near McComb or Brookhaven and plan on meeting let me know I would love to be there. Thanks
