Ok, so, I have a scheduled meeting with ACU bank's head of branch manager-
I am going to leave the location undisclosed so as not to intimidate her by showing up with a large crowd. We will be discussing the bank's current policy, as well as trying to implement a new policy...but I need some help, so, what I need is the following:::

Examples of OC discouraging crime's via news reports/stat's/anything else you can provide-especially if it is a stat/news story AT a bank.

other bank's policy's covering fire arm's.

Police Bulletins

Other store's policy's

stories of people carrying in general, stopping bank robberies.

Any help you can give would be appreciated.

This is a pic of myself in my bank a while back.US banks that I have been in have not had a problem. Also I have been in some Chase banks, and a bank of America recently and had no issue. My daughter is a Chase manager and she doesn't care.

I bank at Peoples. Never had a problem. I asked about it one day and the manager at that time said "we follow state law". It is not addressed in published bank policy. Is your bank trying to exclude your presence because you are armed?

I think this is the wrong approach. You be seen as a whack-job vigilante. We here at OCDO, so steeped in the OC culture, know that you are not, but that is how you will be seen if you emphasize crime prevention. Perception is reality.

Do you carry to stop bank robberies? I hope your answer is No. If so, don't make that argument in your meeting.

Thereby excluding your presence at the bank due to the fact that you are armed. If the meeting doesn't go well, close your account and take your money elsewhere. There are plenty if bank out there that support our rights. Either way, good luck!!

Are all these things your asking for, things the bank manager requested you provide, or just things that seemed like would provide a good approach to the subject?

Both. They are all subjects that she brought up, such as, can you prove that allowing gun's in our bank provide any benefit to us what so ever? exc.

I'm surprised that a branch manager, essentially a low-to-mid-level manager, feels empowered to make an independent, subjective call on what constitutes prohibited conduct on the premises of his/her employer...

You are misunderstanding.

This is a meeting with the manager over all branches.

If this is her approach (prove that allowing guns provide a benifit to the bank)....you have an unknown standard to meet. The issue shouldn't be for you to prove a bank benifit (as in what is the benifit for us to allow left handed, red head males with checking account balances less than 100.00 a pass on fee's?)

You're only able to explain that your right to a self defense and method is clear in WA law, and that if the bank wants to exclude your business because you insist on your right to carry, they are able.....but, they risk losing your business.

It sounds like you have intiated an internal debate on the lack of policy in this area for the branches. Since banks generally aren't this focused on getting or keeping business (anyones IMHO), you may be less than satisfied with the outcome.....and while you can vote with your feet, they likely won't really care.

good luck in any case....

FYI: Wells Fargo, BECU follow state law, but I have also OC'd in many Chase, BOA's and others with reactions ranging from nothing to tellers thanking me for carrying to bank managers actually recognizing my Kimber and engaging in a conversation, to managers personally escorting me in line to the window to show others in line that it is nada to concern them.....

They are not allowing "guns" per se, they are considering preventing (law abiding) people access to their facility because of a biased prejudice not supported by law. They are still private property and have the right to bar you for no reason at all.

I feel the best "plan of attack" should not be show how it will benefit. That is tough to do, and subjective at best.

Perhaps go the direction of showing how it would only turn away business that they do want (legal carriers OC and CC perhaps others), and that having signage and/or policy against carry does nothing to deter an actual criminal(s).

liability issue, they make a "victim" I mean gun free zone and someone is injured or killed by an armed criminal. Point out the pocketbook issue.

The question to the manager. "Do you want the business of a law abiding customer that follows all state and federal laws?" If the answer is yes, then the meeting is over. If the answer is no, ask for your account to be closed.
