    Scotland County Parks vs CC

GRNC has posted a notice that the Scotland County (Laurinburg) Commission will decide on the Recreation Advisory Board's recommendation to restrict gun carry to the maximum extent possible. The meeting is at the Scotland County Courthouse, Thursday 19 Jan, at 5:30pm.

I don't know if this time is normal meeting time, or if it is an attempt to hold down numbers of possible protesters. Be there if you can.

Just got back from the meeting. It was a forum for public comment, with no decision to be made. Commissioners McCook and Alford attended, Chairman Davis was in the audience; Commissioner Carol McCall chaired the forum.
12 of us spoke, 11 of are from Scotland county. Of those, 7 were for leaving things alone and being allowed to carry for personal defense; five (all older men) have CHPs.
Of the other 4 statements were that guns make them nervous, guns and children don't mix, and that they didn't think guns were needed in every situation.
Afterward commissioner Alford made the comment "Well, that's 8 for carry, and only 4 against", definitely showing he paid attention.
Prior to HB650 weapons of any kind were prohibited in all county recreational areas and facilities.

No time line was set for a decision.

I suggest folks continue to voice their concern with emails and phone calls to the county commissioners. Don't let them forget it was more for than against...
