RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Opponents of bills to relax Virginia gun laws are warning that the measures would make the state a more dangerous place.
One bill would prohibit colleges and other government bodies from regulating gun possession unless specifically authorized by the legislature to do so. Others would repeal Virginia's one-handgun-a-month law, allow the purchase of rifles and shotguns without a background check, and repeal a law that allows localities to require fingerprinting of concealed-carry permit applicants.

Omar Samaha's sister Reema was killed in the 2007 mass shooting at Virginia Tech. He said at a news conference Wednesday that legislators should listen to the vast majority of college students and faculty who don't want guns on campus.
Several gun bills are on the Courts of Justice Committee's agenda for its Wednesday afternoon meeting.

allow the purchase of rifles and shotguns without a background check?????? what.
