I live in a nice apartment building that has a security door you have to get passed before you can enter into the stairway to get to your apartment. This morning when I came home from work there was five young adult males huddled around the security door buzzing all of the apartment intercoms and laughing. I kept my distance behind them ask asked them if any of them lived here. They all turned around and where very high and stunk of pot. They all laughed and said "ya we cant find our keys". I told them this is private property (signs clearly visible staying privet property) and I know all my neighbors but did not know them. I told them all the leave before it became trespassing. They all replied with some kind of gangster comment I could not really understand. I told them all to move out of my way as they where blocking the door. The lead boy told me I could either let them in or they would take my keys and help them selfs.
They all started to square off with me and they took a few steps towards me. I know it was not the best idea but I bucked up and challenged the group. I lost my aunt to cancer January 1st this year and was just getting back from visiting my grandpa in the ICU who is currently dying after a massive heart attack two days ago. I was not in the mood for there crap and to be honest wanted to fight. I became very loud challenging all of them, I said something to the effect of leave now or you I really hope you are all man enough to stand your ground and back your words. We got into a verbal argument for a few minutes during witch you could see apartment lights start to come on. I never filched and after a few minutes they backed down and stood near the corner of the building. As I walked to the security door I called 911 and described the situation while the group was still yelling and threatening me. The police did come and talked to them for a few minutes but nothing happened the group had a person in one of the apartments buzz them in and they went down stairs.
A few minutes later even though they where two floors below me I could start to smell pot coming in from under my door and it sounded like they where partying in the common stairwell between everyone's apartment. The group was still talking about me trying to talk tough in front of a third party who was not present when we where outside, I can not repeat what they said but it was not good. I called the police back to report public drug use outside my apartment, a noise complaint and told them threats where being made against me outside my door. It took about ten minutes for one police car with one officer to show up. I buzzed him in and in no more than five minutes (being generous) he was gone. The group did go back into their apartment and the pot smell did diminish but was still in the air.
Over the last few months I have had a dramatic increase of problems coming from that apartment and have been having to call the police a few times a weeks for public drug use and suspicious activity but nothing has come of it. I did talk to my apartment manager about this and he told me he was aware of the problems and told me to call 911 because there is nothing he can legally do about it.
Side note: I work at a place that made me sign a piece of paper agreeing weapons are not allowed at work and at no time shall I be in possession of any type of weapon (firearm and knife specified) including storing the weapons legally in my vehicle while I am at work. Because I went straight from work the visit my grandpa I did not have my gun on me when I confronted the group outside so there is no fear of getting in trouble over them calming I intimidated them with it. At the same time I did wish there was not two doors separating me from my gun if I needed it.
I also know challenging the group was not the smartest but my attitude has not been great this last month and to be honest I did not care they caught me on the wrong day
