You can carry openly, however the gun must be unloaded. In the past they have not checked my gun to see if it was unloaded, they just asked me. They will zip-tie the gun upon entrance. This is a common but silly gun show rule.

Not so silly when you hear about all of the ND's that happen there.

Really? There's been that many? I don't think so.

I recall one about 2 years ago. A guy was handling a firearm and put his bugger-picker on the trigger with the typically expected results. Went off just before the doors officially opened at 3PM. The round bounced off the concrete and hit another person in the leg. If there were other ND incidents, I am not aware of them.

First event ever held at the Fredericksburg Expo Center. Granted, not a handgun carried for self-defense... but negligent just the same.

Yes, I know it has happened. But it is not a frequent event. Negligent discharges are not caused or prevented by gun show policies.

Oh no doubt! But the insurance providers for the expo don't want to incur the risk; unless you are an LEO, in which case they'll let you and your 2 hours a year range qualification time carry onto their property [cough] double standard [/cough].

Studying these incidents is all part of what I do as an instructor. You don't want to know how many times a gun is discharged inside a gun show somewhere.

    Trust me on this one.

I will trust you on this one because I trust your knowledge and experience. I just hate when people blame gun show rules for negligent discharges. NDs are caused by careless people, I hope you would agree with me on that.

Buddy of mine got back from the show last night and called to tell me. Yeah. . .they're now serving beer in the expo center. Said he saw multiple people drinking beer and walking around, shopping for guns.

This will do *wonders* for the anti's PR machine. Also pretty much cinches my decision to avoid once and for all the Dulles funshows.

I've never seen an anti-gun Hooters girl. All I've met have been open and friendly.

This is exactly why the argument exists that not everyone should be carrying a weapon in public. If the ENTIRE public was OC'ing, the same results would occur, especially if it's happening at a Gun Show, where everyone is pro 2A. Just my opinion looking at this from a neutral standpoint.

I was dumbfounded that we had an anti working inside the gun show, at the front door, greeting folks. And, to be so open, loud and proud of her immature position--the epitome of a liberal college student who obviously has no respect for her job nor the thousands in attendance. No doubt, unless her life is saved by someone like us, she will NEVER comprehend or allow herself to comprehend anything more than an anti position. Of course, while I would not allow it to occur, her attitude makes it humorous to think of the day that some person or gang attempts to rape her in a parking lot, walking by and saying, hey i remember you, I have a gun and could help but unfortunately you don't believe I should have one--how's that work'in out for you right now?

Regardless, having a person with such discontent for 2A and all of us should not be in that type of situation, standing there front and center greeting folks that come in the door--when she is not smart enough to keep her mouth shut. Fortunately, Ed taught me and others well and several of us have her comments recorded.

I am quite sure she won't be working the next show ;-)

Unfortunately, there will still be a law suit

against the operator, the venue owner, and many other people, the insurance company would end up spending many thousands in legal fees before the suit was dismissed - probably in the end would pay $50,000 to $100,000 just to end the matter. So the insurance premium for the operator and landlord would be prohibitively high if they did not implement this rule. Don't blame the gun show operator or the landlord, blame the court system that allows such suits to be maintained and linger without quick dismissal. Personally, I enjoyed the show and would rather have this rule maintained than have the show increase admission to $50 or more (or decide not to have future shows in Northern Va).

    That may have converted her
