As a non resident who is planning a trip to Nevada in the upcoming weeks, I have a couple of questions. First, where is it off limits to carry? Second, as a non-resident would I be able to purchase a firearm directly if I found one I wanted or would I have to purchase and then ship it to my home state and pick it up from an FFL?

My home state at this time is Tennessee.

Click the link above that says -> Nevada ->

This will take you to the list of threads for the NV forum. One of them is a sticky for the pamphlet that you can print out that will give you all the low down for carrying in NV. For the most part, you'll like it here.

You are allowed to buy long guns (rifles and shotguns) while visiting. If you buy a handgun, it will have to be shipped to a dealer in your state. NV charges $25 for the background check, having its Highway Patrol acting as a point-of-contact between the dealer and the FBI. Your state may not have this fee, so I'm making sure you are aware of it, if you buy from a dealer here.

Under NV law the state has complete pre-emption. Having said that, Clark County still does not follow the rules and does not allow carry on Couny property, this includes parks. North Las Vegas still has an illegal law on the books about having a firearm in a vehicle, but If you have the means to fight them on it, I can pretty well tell you they will drop the charges as they don't wan't it to go before a judge. Anyplace in Henderson and Boulder City is a go. As far as the casino/hotels, they most likely will ask you to leave. If you don't they can charge you with tresapss. If you are in a business and they ask you to leave, leave and take your money elsewhere.

As far as a firearm purchase, my understanding, and there are others that could give you the low down better'n me, you can buy in a private sale, but I think you still have to be a resident to buy from a FFL holder. I'm sure others will set us straight on this.

Glad you have your money, come often, stay longer.
