A man was hospitalized after he was attacked by three men and stabbed in a Valley View Mall parking lot today, Roanoke police said.

The victim, whose identity and age weren't immediately available, drove from the mall's upper level lot after the 1:51 p.m. attack to the 5000 block of Airport Road, where he called 911, according to Aisha Johnson, a police spokeswoman.

The victim told police he was leaving the mall when his assailants attacked him, Johnson said.

All the more reason never to disarm just in order to frequent an anti-gun establishment.
Gun free zone = Defense free crime zone

People who frequent "gun free" zones must believe one or both of the following:

  1. They are immune to the criminal intentions of others.
  2. They are immune to the law of averages.

The wifester and I are down there semi-regularly. Since the mall itself prohibits firearms carry we stay out of the mall, but we've hit up JC Penney and some other anchor stores while OC as well as surrounding restaurants and we've not had much issue. Of course the reason we carry is just for this type of incident.
