Dunn police say a man took women's underwear and other items from a Roses Department Store while brandishing a gun at a witness who tried to stop him.
They charged this guy with everything but “going armed to the terror of the people" I guess that law is only used to harass law abiding people.

Roses is private a private establishment. You must be on public highways to be charged.

That didn't stop the sheriff who called me from telling me that I could be charged with Gatttotp. While I was able to talk my way out of the situation, and the sheriff actually did some footwork on the laws involved, hunter's right: police only use Gatttotp to harass LACs instead of gangbangers like this person. Even though the charge wouldn't stick, it is surprising that they aren't throwing Gatttotp at this man.

I've had two encounters with LEO where GATTTOTP was mentioned by them. And both times when I shared my knowledge of relevant precedence it didn't get brought up again.

Same here. Unfortunately, I couldn't talk them out of the concealed carry charge.

...but should you have to? This demonstrates that they knew it wasn't valid, but were seeing if you did so they might intimidate you with threats of prosecution.

You shouldn't have to assert you Rights, they should be respected to begin with. Especially by Agents of the State.
