without chp do i have to unholster in my car?

My understanding is that you do not. If you're not concealed standing, you're not concealed sitting - the fact that someone can't see it from outside the vehicle no more makes it concealed than if you were sitting in a booth in a restaurant.

True. Your gun is always going to be concealed from someone when being carried openly. Your own body will do this. You do not need to unholster your gun when entering your car unless there is some physical reason to do so. Other than that, it is best to leave it alone.
