The Whatcom County group of Washington Open Carry are sponsoring an Event on 11 NOV 2012 in Bellingham from Noon to four pm.

There will be a "Reading of the Fallen" on 11 NOV 2012 . The concept is to read the names of the Fallen, ALL the Fallen from the beginning of the Republic to the present day. The idea is to have six hundred “Reading” locations across the United States. Each location has about approximately 1,750 names, estimating eight names per minute which will take an estimated two and half to three hours per location. This is huge task, which has never been done before, but our fallen brothers and sisters’ sacrifice can never be forgotten. The Names will be read simultaneously throughout the Nation with a standardized starting time. This will be an historic event that helps honor today’s war veterans and all that came before us. I have been told that we will receive "State specific names" Washington's Own, in addition to others. If you would like to set up a "Reading" location, contact the "Fight Continues" site to sign up.

The tentative location (I have a request in to the Mayor of bellingham) is in front of the City Hall. We would like to have as many Armed Citizens as possible to participate in, what could be a historic event. This is a link to the site of the U.S.Marine that got this started http://the-fight-continues.com/

If you would like to be a "Reader", offer logistical support, or just be there to see it contact us at readingofthefallen@yahoo.com

For those legal eagles, I do have permission to use OCDO in this venture. Thank you J.

Sunday the 11th sounds like a great day for a road trip. Wife, kids, and I will see about making the trip up to your neck of the woods.

Current flyer for the event.

This can be shared. Any Volunteers please message me or SuddenVallyGunner at the email addy Thanks Mates, the Fallen need to be remembered.

I cannot get the flyer to load. Request by email and I will send them.

We have been contacted by City Parks Dept and have an area reserved for the Reading. It will follow the indoor ceremony conducted by the American Legion at eleven and ending at noon with Taps and a rifle volley outside the building. The Reading will commence shortly after Taps/rifle volley. We will be set up on the lawn across from City Hall, in front of the Giraffe.

I'd love to, but I'm not exactly rolling in cash, my sidekick gets 23 mpg on the highway, I'll probably need to take a ferry, so that's 20 dollars there, then maybe 20 dollars in gas, I doubt I'll have enough money to spare for that. I'm a really destitute college Stooooodent who can't spare the 40 dollars (at least)

I'll be there if a Kitsap one comes around, Bellingham is a bit far on my broke unemployed wallet. I do like Bellingham I wouldn't mind going there.

You know what, I just checked the calender, the event I normally attend is on the 12th this year, so I'm free sunday.

Leitung, lets talk if we can pool resources in addition to SVGs offer we can definitely make it.

and if we get more members from OCDO in the kitsap area interested I may be able to borrow my brothers 7-seat minivan to make the trek. I'll send a message to vitaeus and see if he and his clan are interested. if we all go in one car and spread the cost it will be easier on everyone...

My problem is I am not sure about how my job is going to play out. I have an interview Thursday, and I could be training or working on that day. So I don't want to commit and then back out later.

I understand. I don't need a commitment until a few days before the day. because if no one is available to carpool then i'll go the evil big government socialistic route and use Amtrak from Seattle... if I have to.

just talk to me by election day and tell me what you think. if you're off that sunday on the 11th then just tell me at least 4 days or so before and we'll work somethin' out

If you come to B'ham(the city of subdued excitement) by train, I will pick you up at the station.

If anyone would like to conduct a Reading in their own County, contact me for your County's Fallen. It does not take much to do this. A location (city hall), a Reader( or two, or three), a bell, the National Colors. I can feed you everything we have to get you started.
