Thought the VA folks would be interested in this.

1. Hearing for HB-9: Regulated Firearms - License Issued By Delaware, Pennsylvania or Virginia - Reciprocity

The hearing for HB-9, sponsored by Delegate Michael Smigiel (R-36) has been scheduled for Tuesday, January 25 at 1:00pm in the House Judiciary Committee.

HB-9 would specify that a license issued by the named states would be valid in Maryland.

What we need you to do:

•Use the quick email tool to send a message to the members of the House Judiciary Committee and ask them to support HB-9.

•Delegates Curt Anderson and Jill Carter, usually not in agreement with our issues, are two members of the committee who voted in favor of HB-52, last year's version of the bill. Send them an email thanking them for their support last year and thanking them in advance for supporting HB-9 this year.

•The delegates that need to have your main effort are as follows: Kathleen Dumais, Tiffany Alston, Sam Arora, Luke Clippinger, Frank Conaway, Susan Lee, Keiffer Mitchell, Jr., Luiz Simmons, Kris Valderrama, Geraldine Valentino-Smith, Jeffrey Waldstreicher.

•The aforementioned names are those that either voted against the bill last year or are new to the committee and, we suspect, likely to be in opposition to it this year.

• Please do not send repeated emails to the entire committee. It bogs down the staff of our supporters on the committee.

Well seeing who the people in MD elects each cycle I would agree that there are more 2A friendly peoples outside their state. I went to bat last year and wrote an empassioned letter saying that I would visit my sister more and spend more money in state. I am less enthusiastic this year thinking that even if they did recognize my CHP (snowball/hell) I wouldn't want to CC there anyway out of fear of their stasi-state police finding some other law to screw me with. I'm just sayin'....

I'm afraid to ask Tess what is "done"...

In my e-mail, I urge support for the bill, and explain how it would help me as I drive from Virginia to Pennsylvania. I note I have other friends and family who burn more gas and add time to their trips as they skirt Maryland to avoid having to handle a firearm.

Thanks folks.

It's no secret that it's a million to one shot, but the alternative is to do nothing and that is equally unacceptable to us.

Keep the faith. It will come if you continue the effort. It's a shame too. Your best bet is to push for a shall issue permit system because there are no other options right now.

At least reciprocity would get the ball rolling.

For those of you who can't make it to Annapolis to witness the festivities in person, you can view the proceedings of this Bills testimonies via a live video stream at this web address:

http://mgahouse.maryland.gov/House/Catalog/catalogs/default.aspx

Click on the "judiciary" link on the left of this page. This will give you a list of previous and current streams. HB-9 will be heard at 1pm on Tuesday, 25 January. Click on that link on the main part of the screen when the list appears.

If you have the "Silverlight" video reader installed on your computer, use the "Silverlight" listing. If you don't (like if you have a Mac, or you don't want to load it) choose the "Standard" listing.

Tune in, and enjoy...

Thanks to Andy Morony, my contact at Delegate Mike Smigiel's office for this information.

I'll be there in spirit, guys, but I'll be honest, it's probably better that I can't make it...

I was intending to call out the MSP on all the lies they told in last year's testimonies. It would NOT have been pretty, I guarantee.

And I imagine they will be giving the same sort of "Alice in Wonderland" spiel again this year, so try not to LOL when MSP takes the microphone...

I hope that someone will bring to light the fallacy that they claimed that "only MD LEOs can be trusted to carry in MD"...

Officer Gahiji A. Tshamba (shot and killed an ex-Marine, after a bar scuffle, was intoxicated)

Detective Anthony N. Fata (shot himself in the leg, made up story about a black assailant)

Baltimore City Police Officer Steven Kolas (ran over dirtbike rider in cruiser-lost Federal Civil Rights lawsuit)
Baltimore City Police Officer Brandon Barnes (ran over dirtbike rider in cruiser-lost Federal Civil Rights lawsuit)

BPD Officer Harry Dodge (Shot fellow officer and innocent bystander)
BPD Officer Harry Pawley (Shot fellow officer and innocent bystander)
BPD Officer Toyia Williams (Shot fellow officer and innocent bystander)
BPD Officer Latora Craig (Shot fellow officer and innocent bystander)

PG County Officer Sinisa Simic (Federal extortion, smuggling charges)
PG County Sgt. Rich Delabrer (Federal extortion, smuggling charges)
PG County Cpl. Chong Chin Kim (Federal extortion, smuggling charges)

PG County Officer Darin Rush (DWI)

AA County Lt. James Cifala (Federal Child porn charges)

Rockville City Officer John Thomas Ferguson IV (4 counts of second-degree assault, resulting from a bar fight he started)

PG County Cpl. Eddie L. Smith Jr (charged with being an accomplice to bank robbery)

MSP TFC David McKinley Thomas, Jr (fraud and misconduct)

AA County Officer Joseph F. Mosmiller ( fourth-degree sex offense, second-degree assault and two other misdemeanors)

MSP Trooper Bruce Allen Tucker (possession and distribution of child pornography)

Morningside Chief of Police David Eichelberger Jr. (selling stolen firearms)

MSP Trooper First Class Steven Spoonire (manufacturing controlled substance, growing pot)

PG County Officer Anthony Kline
PG County Officer Sean McAleavey
PG County Officer Reggie Baker
National Capitol Park Police Officer, John Ardovini (all charged with brutality and coverup in Jack McKenna brutality incident)

and on and on and on....

The "thin blue line" in MD seems to have a whole lot of blood dripping from its batons these days...

To serve and protect--their own sociopathic thuggery....

I've been watching the testimonies this afternoon. It seems that there are, like last year, a WHOLE bunch of very thoughtful, articulate, and well-presented testimonies being given by law-abiding citizens from many states.

Also, just like last year I detect a grossly obvious attitude of smugnesss, dismissiveness, and even contempt for the rule of law, the rights of the People, and the TRUTH of the matter with regards to MD's arbitrary permit issuance laws.

The MSP put forth their same pack of lies, FUD and propaganda they did last year. They used the argument that MD conducts a more comprehensive background investigation than VA, WV, PA and DE, which is utter BS--MD uses NICS just like everyone else to do their background checks. They essentially said that MD considers ALL other state's application process to be dangerous, insufficient, and incompetent. Their testimony was, just like last year, an egregious attack on the integrity, professionalism, and honor of the LEAs of these other states, and was an insult to the intelligence of ALL law-abiding citizens in these states. MSP obviously sees themselves as being not only above the law, but above the morals and ethics of polite society, as well as being in some rarefied level of LE superiority that puts them above all other states LEAs.

I am disgusted with the attitudes of the Chairman and several other members of the Judiciary Committee. Their arrogance, flippancy, and disdain for Rule of Law, and FUndamental Human Rights is an embarrassment to the fine people of MD.

I am disgusted with the testimony given by MSP. Their lies, disdain for the integrity of other state's LEAs, and shameless disregard for the fundamental human rights of the Citizens o MD and it's bordering states is a strong statement against the rights of ALL law-abiding citizens, and clearly established that MSP views ALL citizens living in and visiting the state of MD as potential criminals. The fine people of MD, VA, PA, DE, and WV should all be outraged by this nauseating attitude of disrespect, disdain, and distrust.

Hopefully SAF's lawsuit will be victorious, and the courts will FORCE the state of MD to come into line with the US Constitution, and recognize the FUNDAMENTAL HUMAM RIGHT of self-defense.

Del. Smigiel is a brave man, and his work is greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, the MSP and the MD GA are both groups of lawless tyrants, who's disdain for human rights, deeply ingrained systemic racism, and utter disregard for the truth seems to trump their legal abligations to uphold the Law, the Constitution, and secure and protect fundamental human rights of their citizens and citizens of other states.

I'm glad I'm not there. Between laughing at the nonsensical arguments of the committee members, and muttering "********" at the lies of the MSP, I probably would have been thrown out or arrested...

It's time to stop "playing nice" with these people. We need to go to the Media with their lies. We need to verbally call out our elected officials on these attitudes ANY TIME they appear in public. We need to STAND UP and stop accepting the lies, the propaganda, and the disinformation--and we need to take EVERY available opportunity to expose their lies IN PUBLIC.

Only when the people of MD become aware that they are being lied to, and their "officials" are actively working AGAINST the best interest of the State and it's Citizens will this change. Because only then will the good people of MD rise up and start electing officials who actually RESPECT the law, CARE about the well-being of the people of MD, and are DEDICATED to uphold FUNDAMENTAL HUMAN RIGHTS.

Until that time, MD should not be considered a "state", but should be seen by all law-abidig citizens as a serfdom, overseen by a self-anointed elite aristocracy.

We pray for you all.

I received a reply regarding this issue.

Thank you for your correspondence regarding HB 9 Reciprocity Gun Bill. My office has received a lot of positive attention regarding this bill. HB 9 is being heard today in the Judiciary Committee where I serve, and if the bill is allowed to come forward for a vote, it will receive my vote and full support.

I appreciate your interest and involvement. Only thru citizen involvement from people like you are we able to present good bills and have them passed.

Sincerely,
Neil Parrott

Thanks for posting the video link.

About 2 hours into the video they talk about needing a 'good and substantial reason' to posses a permit. How about my right to protect myself and my family? Why isn't that a good enough reason? :cuss:
