AZ citizen taking a vacation to NV.

Hey, I'm taking a vacation to Laughlin NV, also going to be seeing family on the AZ side of the river as well. I know the laws in AZ pretty well. I'm just a little confused on NV laws. I have an AZ CWP, which NV honors. I know you can OC in NV, but we are staying at a Casino, so I will be CC while in NV. I looked up NV on http://www.handgunlaw.us/states/nevada.pdf Still confused. I swear they make laws so hard to understand just to keep lawyers in business. lol Anyways can I CC in a Casino? Can I drink while CC'ing? Now obviously getting hammered with a gun is bad news, I mean a drink or two. Not parting, just collecting a couple free drinks while gambling. Also do no gun signs have legality in NV? In AZ if a property owner doesn't want guns, and noticed you are carrying. They can ask you to leave. If you refuse to leave when asked it's trespassing. Is it similar in NV? Thanks for the help.

Yes you can CC in a casino. If they find out you're carrying, they will kick you off the gaming floor. If you're just carrying from your room to your car or vice versa, there's not much they can do about that, but as a rule casinos will not allow firearms outside of hotel rooms, lobbies, and parking lots.

Yes you can drink while carrying either OC or CC. While carrying in NV you are legal up to .10 BAC. You can even walk into a regular bar and have a beer if that's your choice. As you already stated, it's never ever not ever a good idea to get blotto while carrying.

The "No Guns Allowed" signs carry no weight of law. They only demonstrate what the business wishes their patrons to do. If discovered, as in AZ, all they can do is ask you to leave and you must comply. Of course, they can kick a person out for any reason as they are private property and can set all the silly rules they want.

Nevada law (IANAL):
Nevada is a defacto open carry state and you may open carry if you choose. If you open carry in the high traffic tourist areas of Las Vegas you may have a visit from Metro or, Casino personnel may/will ask you to leave the property if you open carry in any casino. If anyone in authority in any private establishment asks you to leave you must leave under Nevada's trespass law.

There is no restriction on having a firearm in your car, open or concealed as long as it is not concealed on your person (unless you have a permit).

There is statewide preemption, but the Attorney General, on her web-site indicades that she may not think it applies in all cases.

That includes casinos, bars, clubs, restaurants, whorehouses (they are legal in parts of Nevada), ANYWHERE. They may ask you to leave for any reason, or no reason at all, and, under Nevada's trespass law, you must leave.

You may drink while carrying. The BAC limit is 0.10 (DUI is 0.08, when they lowered it to get federal highway money they did not change the limit for CCW).

I think b0neZ covered it, so here's a second opinion.

You can carry in casinos. Most are anti-gun, but they will only kick you out if they know about it.

You can drink while carrying. You can NOT be drunk while in possession of a firearm. The legal limit is 0.10 BAC; that's the previous driving standard.

"No guns" signs have no weight of law on a private business of any kind. As always, any reason they ask you to leave must be obeyed or face trespassing charges.

I own land in AZ. I like both states for different reasons. Welcome!

Thanks guys! Seems NV is pretty free, when it comes to carrying like AZ is. Yea I CC a Charter Arms Undercover, at the 12 position. Not a fan of a barrel near my junk, but thats the only place I can CC and it becomes invisible. So Im not to worried about someone noticing I'm carrying. Kinda cool you can drink a bit while carrying. In AZ even if I can find a bar that allows CC, you can't drink. Thanks for the help.

I go to a local bar all the time and open carry. Carrying is a great way for me to regulate how much i drink. If i feel as though ive had too much to be carrying then i KNOW ive had too much to drive. Considering the repricussions of carrying while intoxicated i find it much easier to not get carried away accidentally.

I think this is our most recent question affected by the latest change to NV's policies. I hesitate to say "NV's laws" because the change was made instantly by the whim of the NV Sheriffs' and Chiefs' Assn, not by the actual government of the state of NV.

Anyway, effective immediately (they literally gave a day's notice) AZ's permit is no longer recognized in NV.

If you were here on vacation, you went from being perfectly fine, to being a felon, overnight.

What a sham we have in the NSCA.

It really irritates me Nevada recently made such a decision. Living in Idaho, a neighboring state of Nevada, with a resident Idaho CCW, and an Arizona nonresident CWP, I am no longer allowed to legally CC in Nevada. I was planning on spending a weeks vacation in Reno, but now I will revise my plans and vacation in friendlier state that honors my CCW licenses.
