Because I almost got arrested for being a suspected gun runner to California. :banghead:
I hang out in my local gun shop and since I have Cali plates and Cali DL since I haven't switched over yet.
Got stopped, asked for ID, gave it. They questioned me about my gun, had me hand it over loaded...( I offered to unload it before handing it over they said no.)ran my serial number and found nothing, since it's not registered and it doesn't have to be in the state of Oregon. At least that's what I'm told by the pro gun good guys. Then they asked me if I go back and forth regularly to Cali, asked if I have bought AR's here and 30 round mags. Ug it's been a bad week. When can you be at the point of it's none of their business? Harassing me is what their doing. Apparently Oregon Sheriff's don't like people from California. :cuss:

You should stop talking to police officers. You know they're not trying to be your friend, so why give them anything more to write in their reports about you? Did they stop you while driving? What was the reason for the stop? They can't just stop you without reasonable suspicion that you've violated a vehicle code and then ask for ID.

I'm assuming that by "brought ARs here" you mean brought ARs and 30 round mags to California. That would be a no-no (well, not the ARs providing they're configured correctly and you're retaining possession of them). The cops obviously don't have anything on you and are trying to give you a hard time, which appears to be working. Stop talking to them, stay out of trouble, keep open carrying, keep/start audio and video recording them, and don't worry that you'll be arrested for gun running without a shred of evidence. I believe you have 30 days after moving here to get a driver's license and get new plates. If you've been here 29 days that isn't evidence of anything.

On a different note, you should go to the DMV if for no other reason than to see how calm they are when compared to a California DMV. No long lines! No lines at all generally.

I don't even have a place of residence. I' staying with friends till I find a job and get my own apartment.
I might be wrong, but if you don't have a place of residence, then you're not a resident yet. I doubt the 30 day rule would apply yet. If you're stopped, all you have to do is say you're visiting. Which pretty much sounds like what you're doing for the moment, at least until you find a job and a place to stay. But, you can leave that last part out. :)

Because 'we' won't stand up to them, because 'we' cave when it gets inconvenient.

Sorry guy; but, most residents of states within 500 miles of the Kalifornian state line don't like Kalifonians. When the wife and were in town looking for a rental house the car rental company gave us a car with Kalifornia plates, I "felt the love" the whole time we were here.

Once you have shed all identifying signs of Kalifornia you may fit in just fine, just leave the Kalifornia socialist tendencies at the state line and do not freely admit to being from Kalifonia, tell people you are from Utah or Colorado if you must.

Yeah, I'm learning that. My last place of residence before I moved back to Cali for 6 months before moving to Oregon was Texas and before that Georgia. Boy do I miss Texas. I saw so many open carrying people it was awesome. I once ran into a guy carrying dual 1911's. It was pretty awesome.

If you think the only reason you're not getting arrested is because you're choosing to talk to the police then I would wager that you are incorrect. If you're doing something illegal then you're going to get arrested. You can take our advice or learn the hard way.

If you saw people in Texas OCing, you saw people breaking the law. OCing a handgun is not legal in Texas, except maybe on private property. If you don't believe me, go ask in the Texas forum.
