Article.

"...none of the pro-gun bills designed to help protect our Second Amendment rights have been passed and one has to wonder why. It seems to be the perfect time to get these measures through committee and the floors of both chambers of Congress, but the White House is another measure. Barack Obama has made it obviously clear that he is very much against guns, the Second Amendment and would love nothing more than to confiscate every privately own firearm in America."

Four critical bills are before Congress:

1. SB 2205, Second Amendment Sovereignty Act, introduced by Sen Jerry Moran (R-KS). This bill is designed to keep the Obama administration from signing the UN Arms Trade Treaty.

2. SB 2213, Respecting States’ Rights and Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act, introduced by Sen John Thune (R-SD). This bill is designed to require all states to recognize and accept a valid conceal carry permit from another state.

3. HB 822, National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Act of 2011, introduced by Rep Cliff Stearns (R-FL). This bill is similar to SB 2213. It was introduced last year and passed by the House and sent to the Senate where it has sat untouched by the Senate Judiciary Committee.

4. HR 2900, Secure Access to Firearms Enhancement (SAFE) Act, introduced by Rep Paul Braun (R-GA). “To amend chapter 44 of title 18, United States Code, to provide for reciprocity in regard to the manner in which nonresidents of a State may carry certain concealed firearms in that State.”

Please - Write your Congressmen. Thanks!

Obama already stated he isn't going to sign it. And it would have to be run through Congress even if He did. Fear-mongering nonsense.

2. SB 2213, Respecting States’ Rights and Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act, introduced by Sen John Thune (R-SD). This bill is designed to require all states to recognize and accept a valid conceal carry permit from another state.

So much for States Rights. This bill is a total contradiction. Mandate that States respect reciprocity by mandating State's Rights...give it up!

So much for so-called States Rights.

Did you think about any of these items before you posted them? I thought Republicans were all for States Rights over the scary FED! *shivers*

This bill also prevents the use of funds, if the treaty were to be ratified by the Senate, in the future. In addition, it requires a rollcall vote, as opposed to a voice call.

He has said a lot of things he really doesn't mean. I prefer to look at his history, rather than rely on statements that he hasn't had to back up yet.

Who is the Senate to tell a future Senate what they can and cannot do? The whole notion that Senators can make a Law into perpetuity is non-sense; just like the notion that the Constitution is not a Living Breathing Document (Interpretive).

It's for an internal procedure for a specific event. They can do it. As for the money, IIRC, it is budgeted for this year's budget...meaning it is for this year only. You forget they (future Senates) can change it, just like they originally passed it.

To help answer your question, Does the Senate have to re-pass every law every session?

States rights? Since when did the states get the right to trample my right to defend my family? The 2nd amendment is already in place to prevent the government(s) from infringing on my right to bear arms. Since that obviously isn't working I'll take what ever I can, even if it means trampling STATES RIGHTS. We wouldn't have to trample states rights if they would respect ours in the first place IAW the CONSTITUTION.

One very respected aspect of the right to keep & bear arms cited in the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution is the right to be armed for protection against road agents, and hostile Indians when embarking upon any journey. Although the Native American threat to travelers is now more incorporated into casinos - highwaymen & women still abound.

Every state that infringes upon the right of travelers to be EFFECTIVELY armed for self defense while traveling is violating the 2A. (Illinois, California, New Jersey, etc, etc)

My travel itinerary would necessarily have to exclude many states, and planning any trip would require state-by-state research of their respective laws in order to find out if I even want to plan a route through a particular state. This is simply not right- or constitutional.

A national reciprocity law would address this situation- at least when traveling THROUGH some of these constitutionally challenged states.

doesn't it just grind your gears that WE ALREADY HAVE ONE!?!!?!?!?

What grinds my gears is that far too many politicians appear to be incapable of reading "...the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." Since they're that inept, I support a bill to help them connect the dots.

Lol, +1!

I think you're over-estimating their abilities. You could draw it out with a crayon on traceable paper, and they still wouldn't get it. There are none so blind as those who do not wish to see...
