A Florida man will be spending some time in jail for activity that is usually allowed outside a courthouse. Mark Schmidter passes out jury nullification brochures. Schmidter was found guilty of “indirect criminal contempt” Tuesday for passing out pamphlets in Orlando during the Casey Anthony trial . . . The pamphlets he was handing out described jury nullification, the power of a jury to return “a verdict of ‘Not Guilty’ despite its belief that the defendant is guilty of the violation charged.”

Since he was not inside the court house, where does the judge get off holding him in contempt of court?

What's next, walk up to the door of a court house while armed and get locked up for that too?

I could see it, "No weapons are allowed in the courts and so even coming near court house while armed is contempt of court and you'll be locked up."

Where will it end?

If only people understood one of the fundamental powers of a jury, and understood the RKBA, wrongfully-arrested OCers (arrested under "disturbing the peace", "contempt of cop", etc.) might not have to suffer the injustices of the "Justice" system.

Jury nullification is perhaps the least known option where the general public is concerned. Prosecutors hate it. Judges hate it and most (all?) ban mention of it in their courtrooms.

It is a simple concept, only requiring one (1) juror to stand up on his/her hind legs and refuse to convict.

I got away with mentioning jury nullification during a jury selection.

I still got nothing by statist idiots on the jury and thus lost that case, but I did get to bring it up.

Even in the state where it is codified. The judges and prosecutors do all they can to get around it.
