Home invasion?

Following a home invasion, I had to run from my home because my handgun was pawned and I was defenseless. A month later, one of the two perpetrators was arrested and behind bars for stabbing a man in Portland, Maine 97 times. I came back to the area to repair the damage to my home, such as, storm windows removed, locks had to be re-pinned because they stole my spare keys from the garage. This was August, 2010. My room was in back of the lobby, near the desk.

I booked a room at a Portland hotel for two nights. The first night, someone tried to force open the door to my room. I called the Portland PD, they came immediately, were very kind and professional, told me to call again for any reason.
I still felt jittery, so I put the portable fridge in front of the door. Next morning, around 7:30 AM, I was on my way out when it occurred to me whoever tried to force the door could be a guest in the hotel. I called the Portland PD again and asked if they would please escort me to my car. At the time, the place was booked solid, and I could not park at the hotel.

The dispatcher said yes, and stayed on the phone until the police were near enough, then we hung up. As I gathered my computer and my purse (I'm female) someone suddenly kicked the door down in my face. Good thing the refrigerator was in the way or it would have fallen right on top of me. I screamed, then yelled for him to identify himself, repeatedly, as the door was coming down, moulding, jamb, latch, and all. After he kicked it down, I could see that he was absolutely not a police officer. He was wearing jeans and a black leather jacket; his hair was long and curly on top, short at the sides, and obviously dyed black; stubble on his face, likewise dyed, and the skin in between. Not a Portland officer.

He then grabbed me bodily and threw me out on the sidewalk.

I picked myself up and walked to my car, and drove to the Portland PD to file a report. I was seen by the Supervisor, Sgt. McLure (not sure of spelling). He asked me if "I" owned a firearm. I told him about the handgun, and that I had bought a new shotgun a few days before this so that I could go home. He asked me where it was, and I told him, the trunk of my car, because I could not leave it at home in this situation. He demanded that I give him the keys to my car, and took my shotgun.

He said he didn't believe women should use guns. I told him I was police trained, with CWPs for many years, and hunting licenses. He would not give it back. Told me to come back in a few days. Thus I had no choice but to stay at a Safe Haven Unit at a women's homeless shelter. Went back in a few days, and was told "someone called and said I had a dangerous drug in my purse." Absolutely unsubstantiated filthy lie. The other perpetrator of the home invasion was living right next door to my home; I assumed he was the one who called it in, and might have hired a thug to assault me at the hotel.

I stayed at the Safe Haven for most of the next year and a half, with many attempts to get my shotgun back to no avail.

I finally went home, unarmed, in Sept., 2011, with the other perpetrator living right next door to my home. To this day, I have not been able to get my shotgun back. Now they're saying I had a felony drug conviction back in 1969. Absolutely false. I have never been convicted of any drug violation, nor felony of any kind. A lawyer has been helping me, but so far has gotten nowhere. They provided me with a reference # and a phone # for the sheriff in another state. I called, and the sheriff said there is no such number, nor do they have anything on me whatsover. Then the Portland PD said "I" have to provide proof that there is "nothing." What is going on with the Portland PD? Is there enough for a class action suit?

Wait, WHAT? You had a home invasion, then two days in a row people were kicking in your hotel door? The person that kicks in your door throws you onto a sidewalk? Why would someone kick in your door then just throw you on the sidewalk and leave you alone while you WALK (not run) to your car? Are you witness protection or something? Tons of people out to get you it seems. Then the police say women can't use guns? Something about this story really tickles my spidey senses.

Have exercised my privilege to move this extremely wild and improbable claim of multiple invasions to its own thread.

The OP is a first time poster without any cite or confirmation as to the claimed incidents - you know that there would be police documentation and even likely media reports.

Doesn't pass the smell test, in fact not even in contention. We appear to have a new agent provocateur in our midst.

Without further adieu, I wave the BS flag.

I'm with you Grape. This story is even further out there then some of the others we've seen.

If you had called the police and were waiting for them to escort you to your car, why would you then walk to your car and drive to the police?

So a guy just kicked your door down and threw you on a sidewalk? Seems like a lot of effort for no reward.

The cop just took your shotgun without cause and you just gave it to him?

This story is horrible... just horrible....

Your decidedly hostile response to an honest call for help makes me wonder.

Have exercised my privilege to move this extremely wild and improbable claim of multiple invasions to its own thread. "Multiple" invasions? What are you on?

Doesn't pass the smell test, in fact not even in contention. We appear to have a new agent provocateur

"new agent" provocateur? Are you possibly friends of those who committed a familiar home invasion?

in our midst. I'm glad you're not judges in a court of law.

Without further adieu, I wave the BS flag.

Your buddy did not read what I said. I said, that after I called the police, someone kicked down the door and "I was then thrown bodily out of the hotel onto the sidewalk" as the reason why I walked to Portland Police Headquarters on Middle St. to report this, to Sgt. McLure, on or about August 14th, 2010. There is absolutely police documentation, re: McLure, and Betsy Chapman, Property Room, who has heard from me and my lawyer about the illegally confiscated shotgun. What other information would you need? The issue was the illegal confiscation of a legal right to have a shotgun.

I applied for witness protection; court date set for Sept. 17. Would you like to watch?

Did I come to the wrong site? Is this for perpetrators of home invasions? Perhaps kids under 18 who don't know how to read?

Your timing, all three ganging up on a woman with a story no different than others with the same confiscation situation, smells. All of you, within minutes, misquoting, like you are having difficulty reading. Are you perhaps hacking my email from next door? Is anyone from law enforcement watching?

Sigh -

Alleged home invasion - no cite.

Motel 1st night, attempted invasion - no cite

Motel, next morning attempted invasion - no cite.
You had called the police, but drove to the police station where you were relieved of a shotgun under color of law.

You claim to have a lawyer, yet ask us if you have enough for a class action suit?

Really? Seriously? No substance - all smoke and mirrors.

You waited until the police were close enough to walk you to your car, but then ignored the police waiting for you and drove to the police station????

and now you walked not drove past the police waiting for you to the police station??????????????????????

Having stayed in a lot of motels, I am having a problem with the door being kicked down as suggested. Codes in most counties for motels call for solid wood doors, steel reinforced door frames. Home invader must have one heck of a leg.

We are simply pointing out things that don't make sense in your tale. Please pointed out where you were misquoted. This site is different. We demand cites for any information presented as truth when such information is suspect We view OCDO as a valuable resource for those interested in open carry. We are not ganging up on you, this is how any new poster with such a story would be treated. Rather than provide truth you have insulted us by calling us kids and saying that we do not know how to read.

You want to clear this up:

PM me your name, and the county in which you are applying for "witness protection" so I can run a punlic records check. In your story you didn't indicate that you had witnessed anything that would put your life in danger if you were to testify against someone. Let me guess, the home invaders were secretly Yakuza warlords who were after your ancient treasure map...

Post copies of the police reports from the alleged incident.

Post a media account of the above incident.

I was thinking the same thing. Most hotels I have been to have rather heavy doors and heavy duty locks.

Perhaps it is difficult to remember events exactly as they did not happen.....hmmmm?

Ding ding ding...we have a winner!

I have provided the OP with a list of things she can provide in order to verify her account. Let's see what happens...

Eridon, a lot of your post does not make sense. If you are actually seeking help, it's best to stick with professional legal counsel. If you are sharing your story for other purposes, whatever that might be, then it would go a long way towards your credibility if you posted some proof, rather than somewhat paranoid rantings.

Quite personally, I'm finding your story incredulous at best, and ridiculous at every other extreme. But I am willing to be proven wrong, so if you can, provide detailed information, police reports, dates, times and locations of incidents...that sort of thing.

You said someone destroyed your door, and bodily threw you out on the sidewalk. You then said you picked yourself up and WALKED to your car... Where was the person who threw you to the sidewalk after he threw you out? Why did that attacker let you walk to your car without giving chase? That seems like an ENORMOUS plot hole in the story...

What did the attacker want from you? A rapist wouldn't throw you out on the sidewalk and leave you there. A mugger would demand your wallet or purse. A robber would steal your purse or other valuables. A hotel bouncer maybe? They might throw you on the curb, but they'd have a key to the room and wouldn't break down the door? What was the motive of the attacker? I've never heard of an attacker who just throws people on the street then vanishes into the night.
