Notable recent places include Wells Fargo last night while making a large cash withdrawal to pay a helper, and Lowe's today while purchasing supplies for today's jobs. Lots of smiles from staff and other customers. Not one person alarmed, as usual.

I had my hammer cocked, too!

Sorry for the confusion, I was replying to MP and your comments at the same time. It may have looked as if I was putting mp's words in your mouth, and vice versa... I will attempt to address things in a situational manner from now on.

Later I was thinking there had to be some miscue either by me or by you. I know you better than I know anyone else in this group. After all, we did get our picture taken in the Horseshoe casino in front of the million dollars while OCing. I should of reply with hay what’s up with the reply? Sorry for the slamming reply.

Great story's of OCing in light of the resent events. Metro and the medias reporting of the CCW guy these idiots murdered while a extremely sad event may have had a positive affect when the general public sees a legal carried firearm.

Guns-n-beer

PT's Pub, with the big shiny stainless revolver with red, white, and blue grips.

Try drinking a beer with a gun in a nanny state. Home means Nevada.

Wow. It never would've occurred to walk into a bar and start drinking with my gun on my hip. Just spent an hour searching Nevada Revised Statute(NRS) and other threads on this and other pages. Not a word about drinking while in possession of a firearm.
huh. Go figure.

State law does prohibit possession of a firearm if you are 0.10% BAC, so you are required by law to drink responsibly while armed. (NRS 202.257)

I went to Wal Mart today, looking for .308, and fluorescent light bulbs. I was OC'ing my tactical XD .45 It is large, and hard to miss. I grabbed the tubes and headed for the gun counter, upon approach I noticed the sales guy was a young man (not the salty old dude I am used to) He asked me what I was looking for, while he finished up what he was doing. I responded 7.62 X 51, everything seemed cool. He brought out a box, and opened them up to show me, that is when he said "They are beautiful" I nodded in agreement, and said "you got that right" (thinking he is a gun guy, and we were on the same page) He then pointed at my pistol and I wish I could remember the exact words, but they were to the effect of "who do you plan on shooting with that?" I said "the goal of carrying it open is to not appear like a victim, It is like having a cop car parked at your 7-11" He nodded and said he had been doing a ton of thinking since the latest events happened at one of his chain stores. I asked him if he was scared of a crazed gunman coming in, and he said ... Yeah kinda, but what is keeping me up at night is the thought of selling these, (pointing at the bullets) to the crazed gun man.

That caught me off guard. There has been no heralding, pomp and circumstance, news coverage, or fund raisers, for those employees that have lost work, because of this violence. They have been expected to be there tomorrow, or whatever. So I felt for the Dude. Not making a big deal, I made my way out, this time asking if they wanted to see my receipt... They did not, that got me thinking, who wants to approach a guy with a gun after what their Wal Mart brothers and sisters have been through.

After loading the stuff in my truck I realized that I had wanted to get a case of water, so I was at the "Dude Entrance," (Home and garden) so I went back in, grabbed the water, and there she was... the only lady that has been mean to me at that store. I said thank you for letting me out since my hands were full, she said I know you bought ammo, that is what you usually get, and we know that you pay. Then her voice got low, and she leaned forward... she said "We just wish people wouldn't bring guns in our store." There was a pause and she added "especially after what happened." I said yes that was heartbreaking, and told her that i appreciated how nice she was and left.

My take on the whole thing is violence sucks and is far reaching. the human race has achieved a lot, but no large steps on eliminating violence... It appears that it lives in every sector it did 2000 years ago!

I would have pointed out that rendering a potential victim defenseless does nothing to curb the threat of a violent criminal. If anything, the shooting shows the advantage of having multiple armed citizens: if by nothing else alone, sheer numbers would be enough to make the cost-benefit ratio HIGHLY unfavorable for the would-be mass shooters, who would likely move on to an easier target.
The biggest shame in all of this is that we armed LAW-ABIDING citizens are the ones who get blamed for the actions of deranged killers; last I checked, it was considered unfair to accuse a group of people for the actions of a similar group. I guess it only applies to the "protected" classes.

OC yesterday:

1. Greek restaurant...N. Durango and Dorrell. Placed a to-go order. As my wife was looking over the menu, the lady at the counter asked me what I was carrying. She said her husband OC's his Glock now, but is going for his CCW soon. She said she has a Taurus 40 cal and she and her husband go shooting. We talked a bit more before my order was ready. There were several people waiting to order or waiting for their orders. No reaction to my OC.

2. Short Line store, Union 76 station...N. Durango and Deer Springs. No incidents inside the store.

When Walmart has competent, armed security to protect me, then I'll stop bringing in my gun. This non-sense is exactly WHY I carry a gun. I will not be a defenseless victim (except Monday through Friday, 9-5).

Will not entrust my safety or that of my loved ones to someone else - especially when that person(s) has the oversight of how many customers and employes.....5?.....25?.....250?

My priorities are much closer to where I stand.

You guys been following the story of the killers? Did ya know that Metro actually interviewed Jared Miller back in Feb over a recorded call to Indiana DMV where he said he would just start shooting people? He got stopped around the Boulder damn and was ticketed for driving on a suspended Indiana license. When he called Indiana DMV he told them that he was going to call the NV court and tell them that Indiana had it all screwed up and that he was not at fault and that if NV came to arrest him for non-compliance he would just start shooting people. All recorded.

So Metro detectives interviewed him in Feb and then deemed him NOT a threat. Why is this so important? BECAUSE IT PROVES THAT BACKGROUND CHECKS DON'T WORK. Not only was he a convicted felon who was legally not allowed to own guns but then he was interviewed by the cops as soon back as Feb where it was determined he was no threat.

I've said it a million times, you cannot put restrictions on gun ownership based upon things like mental stability - that the news and politicians keep thinking you can do - because who is making those determinations of "stability". Perfect example. He WAS restricted by being a felon and he was interviewed for being a threat. Yet, look what happened. A killer broke the gun laws. Big surprise! How many more laws you wanna make that they'll break?!?

Sorry, kinda off topic, but you guys are a sorta family for me and I really needed to share. The Walmart visit just posted prompted my post.

QFT...

IF... you could cite and provide Links to the recording and official reports of his investigation,,,
This would be Killer ammunition to be used against the calls for more/any background check idiots!

This should be cross posted to several general fora for the widest dissemination!! It really IS that good...

Just google
"Cop killers had three prior talks with Las Vegas police," and pick anyone of the many reports.

Agree, great poof gun laws do not work. As said by law he is not to have a gun, His wife by law is not give him access to guns, by law the guns were to be registered in Clark County. Though not having the force of law in Nevada and there was non posted I am fairly sure they did not stop to see it the facility has no guns allowed signs.

Algers newx also had a video interview of him at the Bundy ranch showing him with a shotgun and handgun. So here is a felon breaking gun laws on national news.

Very interesting stories while OCing today.
Mom's dentist office: Elderly Latino couple whispering about my firear on my hip. Just kept staring but no real issues.
Smith's (N. Durango/Elkhorn: Nothing inside the store but on the way out one man starts yelling that he's scared of me and was patting his hip all the while smiling. I just smiled back and went on my way to my car. As I was walking 2 men started stopped me and asked if I was carrying a pellet gun while laughing and smiling. I repositioned myself to where the cart was between us and my mom was behind me. I told them that it was not a pelllet gun and the laughing and smiling stopped all the while moving back about 5 feet. They apologized for the laughing and told me to that they have never seen a female carrying. They wished my mom and me a nice day.
Pizaz Hut (same shopping center): Met a man inside and he asked my mom who I was planning to shoot today. As I turned around he then asked me the same question. I told him "God willing...noone." Then he asked me if I have my license (which I think he met CC permit) and I told him that since I am Open Carrying that I don't need a permit. He then began to tell me that as a woman I should be CC because being an Open Carrier leaves me as a target. He then told me that if he was a criminal and that if he really wanted to he would be able to get my gun from me. ( He was a big man about 200 lbs). Then I said that if that was the case then there would be more reported attacks on people who open carry than those who don't. I then told him that criminals have openly admitted they would rather attack someone with no gun than one who is carrying. He then said that if a criminal saw me here in the Pizza Hut and wanted to rob it then I would be the first target. I then told him that I have an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice and I have studied criminal behavior and criminals don't think that way. They like the paths of least resistance. At the end of this he then proceeded to tell me that in 3 states its legal to shoot someone if they enter your property. (Don't know how this came up) Then my mom chimes in and says that she likes that I carry and feels alot safer and the whole time she has been with me she has had no problems or altercations.

Somewhat presumptuous; I'd also never seen a lady carry until last fall, but I only wondered what make and model it was.

Same old rhetoric from a CC-only, borderline anti.
Jeannette for the win!
I suspect he brought up the property laws as a subconscious admission of having been owned. Nicely done; I will save this on my list of favorite OCDO encounters.:)

I had a pretty interesting OC experience the other day (so to speak).

I just moved to my new house about a month ago and finally decided to check out the local bar just around the block. I opted to conceal my pocket gun. I walked in and it seemed like a nice enough joint - not too busy, pretty clean, and the TVs weren't too loud. I sat and ordered a beer and much to my surprise I noticed the gentleman working behind the bar was OCing! After a few minutes I called him over and asked what the establishment's policy was on patrons OCing as well.

He got a little flustered and said that if he knows the person, he asks them to conceal if they have a permit or just leave it at home. For the sake of other customers being concerned about people drinking with a gun and whatnot. I can't say that I got a clear answer out of him as to whether or not he would allow me though. After a few minutes he came back and we talked a little bit about gun laws (he was very misinformed from his class at the gun store) regarding drinking. At this point he explained to me that I caught him off guard with my question because he doesn't actually know the company's firearm policy. He and another bar tender just started open carrying to work for the safety of their customers and themselves, not really caring what the company's policy was LOL!!

Exactly! That's why they chose crime, it's much easier than playing by the rules. And as far as making you a target - let's see...would a small woman or a large body builder be the first choice as a target for a criminal? Stupid people.

The only time I think it could be trouble is if the intended crime is to get a gun. However, as you know, most crimes are over property and not murder. It is a BIG leap to go from wanting to rob an easy target to having to kill someone to take their gun. It's like that old argument that bars or an alarm on your house makes you a target because you now let the criminals know that you have something worth stealing. That's proven to be bogus and the criminals go onto the next EASY target (house) just as they most likely will when they see you are packing and made it known for all to see that YOU WILL SHOOT. Kudos to you Jeanette!

As for links about Jared Miller being recorded, a simple search will do ya fine. It's not hidden info, just pretty newly available...to the public that is. The police have known since February. Ouch, baby!
