We seldom hear much in the MSM about Mexicans struggling for the right to bear arms. But this guy gets it. Best of luck to them.

Permits allowing most Mexican subjects to carry would be an improvement, but don't confuse it with a right to carry. Rights are not licensed or permitted. Rights are things that the government is (or should be) prohibited from stopping you from doing.

Of course, what was interesting to me was that an AP article took on this subject. There are some great quotes in there. Hopefully a wide readership will absorb these thoughts and apply them to their own situation.

Mexico's Constitution allows citizens to bear arms, Exept for semi auto rifles and handguns above .380 (semi auto pistols,0k). 9mm (+) is considered military exclusive.

All you need to do is visit your state police office ask for a no-felony letter(background check) wait a couple days get the letter, visit your local military zone (as translated in spanish) every city has one, and thats it.. They give you a letter that acts as a permit and there you go.. from then on you can legally transport your gun or rifle from point "A" to point "B". And you can legally buy ammo from any sports store.

Perfect for a G25 or G28.

The police chief quoted in the article seems to feel ordinary citizens have some difficulty obtaining permits. He also stated guns should be a right, I agree.

You mentioned you can transport legally with the proper paperwork - does that mean loaded and at the ready?

I understand that some Mexicans are doing anonymouse vigilante actions against cartel members they become aware of. Yes, it includes shooting them, putting the body somewhere public, and with a note saying that regular people are sick of the cartel violence and are fighting back.

Also similar stuff was being done to car thieves in Brazil I think it was. They would leave toy cars with the bodies.

You forgot part of it. Corruption. If you don't have the money to pay the bribes, you don't get the paperwork necessary.
