Testimony in Lansing on MI's Constitutional Carry bill. Great quotes in the article from the Pro Carry side, and sheer idiocy from the anti's.

Pros:
It is currently legal in the state of Michigan for a law-abiding person to openly carry a firearm on their person without any training classes, fees or state bureaucracy. It only becomes illegal when a person puts on a coat, because the gun then becomes concealed. One millimeter of clothing makes the difference between a criminal act and a legal act.

Women, elderly, vulnerable and economically disadvantaged people should not be excluded from concealed carry because they can't afford the fees associated with the permit process.
-Rep. Michele Hoitenga, R-Manton

It allows people to carry in the manner they choose that's best for their specific situation.
-Tom Lambert, MOC

Anti side idiots:

Rep. Tim Griemel, D-Auburn Hills, expressed concern that penalties for those who do not disclose concealed firearms to law enforcement during a traffic stop could be stripped from state law under the proposed bills, and also questioned what would happen to laws preventing people who have a personal protection order out against them from obtaining a concealed pistol license.

David Hiller of the Fraternal Order of Police said the legislation as written "basically allows anyone to go out purchase a handgun and carry it concealed."

He said the FOP strongly opposes the bills because it would strip away training requirements for carrying concealed firearms and potentially put the community at risk.

For the second time in three days, Ypsi has seen the use of a firearm in self defense. Now, for those that don't want to read the article, I'm going to point out the obvious stupidity of living in a building with a security door, only to just buzz people in without knowing who they are. That aside, the guy was on the wrong side of 4 to 1 and scared them off with a single shot. Didn't hit any of them (which makes me wonder where the hell the shot went) and the would be robbers were stopped by Washtenaw Sheriff's deputies a short distance away and arrested.

And in Taylor, Rick Ector had some 600 women at an annual training event at Top Gun Shooting Sports' 30 lane indoor range. While not an event geared towards getting more women their CPL's, it is a great way to get people interested and teach the bare basics.

Starts at the 14:00 mark.

As if we needed any MORE proof that the anti's are delusional morons. The supposedly highly educated dingbat in this video shows she doesn't have even the most basic grasp of what she's talking about. Inarticulate, confused, unprepared... I'd say she looked like a deer in the headlights, but that'd be an insult to the deer. Oh, and the outright LIES around the 24:30 mark...

wow, she apparently got blind sided by the panel who were 'gunning' for her!

BTW did you notice the applied psychology aspect of 'them' sitting in mass across from her who was all by herself on her whole side of the table.

and DeShaine is right she is woefully unprepared for the panel's discussion and the tap dance she is doing on the legislative portion...

80% of the gun owners want checks, training, etc., really?

fascinating as she has become flushed and is perspiring...

thanks for sharing

I can go with her on 80% of gun owners want training. But not as a requirement for anything. And the cost on that is generally higher than most can afford on a regular basis.

MGO and MOC will be in court tomorrow at 9 am to hear why the Grand Rapids- Kent County Convention Arena Authority (a clear Local Unit of Government) has a policy of no guns at DeVos Place and why members of both groups were served with "enforceable orders of trespass." This stems from a March 2016 incident at the Women's Expo, where members of both groups were told to remove their firearms or leave.

From the DeVos FAQ page:

Weapons include, but are not limited to, the following: firearms, explosives, stun guns, handcuffs, brass knuckles, sticks, clubs, batons, martial arts instruments, pepper spray, tear gas, knives, etc. Guests found in possession of the above-mentioned items will be asked to remove the item from the venue or dispose of it. Guests who refuse to comply will be ejected from the venue and may be subject to arrest.

Rarely, the open carry of firearms may be allowed for individuals holding a valid concealed pistol license subject to all applicable state and federal laws—please contact the SMG administrative office at 616-742-6500 with questions regarding specific events. The concealed carry of firearms is prohibited at all times.

However, this is from the CAA page:

Yep, saw that too. I'm waiting for the official written decision to see what it says and how far it goes.

This actually has HUGE ramifications for those of us that want to go to Red Wings, Tigers, Lions or Pistons games. All three venues (Wings and Pistons both will play at the new Little Ceasers Arena) are owned by public (read governmental) authorities.

MGO and MOC both think that the toughest part will be getting Snyder to sign the thing. They think passing the senate will be the easy part.

Mad Mommies whining about County Commissioner Moore's remarks to reporters about a verbal altercation and de-escalating the situation before things got out of hand.

Full disclosure: I despise Stephanie Moore. Anyone that would use public resources for personal reasons should be bounced out of office, but those good folks on Kalamazoo's northside keep voting her into positions of power within the area.

No charges for CPL holder in road rage incident ending in self defense shooting. Kent County Prosecutor Chris Becker said: "Neither side is without fault."

"It is obvious (the Dudleys) did not approach the truck in a calm, peaceful manner simply looking to talk," Becker wrote.

"Robert described being assaulted immediately upon getting out of his truck. Benjamin supported this statement. ... Right away, this was a two-on-one situation, Robert was in between his open door and the body of his truck being confronted by two angry individuals," Becker wrote.
