The City Council in Champaign, IL (home of the University of IL) voted today 9 - 0 to give the mayor extraordinary powers. These include the ability to stop sales of guns, ammo, gas (and other "flammables"), seize property, etc.
Freaky scary.

Just curious, how does local North Carolina government have authority to regulate open carry when the NC's constitution protects that right?

then "clearer" heads prevailed and state exemption on firearms was introduced and a multitude of sins were corrected ~ kinda ~ but bottom line was county & municipalities were out of the hodgepodge loop regarding citizen's firearm carry/ownership!

JT, Champaign, IL is not on Planet Earth.

Unfortunately, it IS on "Planet Earth". Many of the resident's heads may not be of Earthly "origin" (esp. the mayor and city council) but they aren't the only ones. The city of Elgin, IL has done much the same thing, and there are more nationwide.
It's all about "control".
