According to the official police report, "The police found a loaded 12-gauge shotgun in the passenger compartment of the car the shooter drove to the school. The shotgun was moved by police from the passenger compartment of the car to the trunk for safekeeping."
In other words it was not "recovered" until nightfall..

That is the silliest thing I have heard yet. You are claiming they secured the shotgun IN THE SUSPECT'S VEHICLES TRUNK, instead of a police cruiser trunk or a evidence vehicle. AND THEN going through the trouble to film recovering the shotgun in the dark, and releasing it as finding the shotgun.

But then again, it's an assumption that the people doing so are actually going about their daily lives, to buy something, rather than to make a political statement.
Political Statements can be effective when the message is received as in this case. There was/is a large segment of the public which was/is not aware that long gun OC is legal. This is changing. There will be another educational experience tomorrow around lunch time...

Here is the Danbury State's Attorney statement regarding it.. http://www.ct.gov/despp/cwp/view.asp?Q=521730

And the attack on 9/11 Benghazi was caused by a video~baddaboom!

Again the report is absolutely the stupidest thing I have ever heard. If it was even a smidgen true the police there are pure idiots. Once evidence is taken into custody, it is NOT secured in the suspect's vehicle.

It was obviously not taken into custody until AFTER it was finally removed from the trunk

I have a bridge for sale in Wilmington, let me know if you are interested...

It was in custody the moment the officer put his hands on it. That is obvious, not to mention the police can be clearly seen clearing the gun in the trunk. Which no sane police officer would lock it in a suspect vehicle without clearing it, let alone putting it in there in the first place. In the early stages the police could not be positive they had a single shooter, or a accomplice with key to the car.

The story is completely IDIOTIC! If it sounds like a lie, it usually IS a lie.

it is not my intent to stir the fractions up over SH and thanks IK ...now can you provide what you stated in your posting as the 'official police report' instead of the CT AG's explanation of why his office is in charge because, the may have been done this way, and the whys it may have been done that way, as well i have told everyone to not talk about this rhetoric.

less than 5 minutes to expend 154 rounds...

and it is interesting the AG goes out of his way to mention LE recovered, removed from where it was found, and then put this piece of evidence in in the trunk...uh, oh ya for safe keeping. also of note was the other firearms were mentioned and referenced by make at the beginning of the press conference yet the shotgun wasn't mention except as a 'oh ya, forgot to mention the shotgun' which wasn't referenced by make. IK you mentioned a specific make in your recent post??

CHOWDA, being insulting and degrading attacks on others in this forum will do nothing for the discussion, but make your word not worth anything. most posters on here are more mature then that
believe me you don't know my past, and i will not talk of it, unless it will make a point

it is clear that WOLF and i do not trust the Government. i can't even say " i believe half of what i read or anything i hear"

if you will read the coroner report, of the three that he submitted. first he said they were shot with 5.56. then he recanted and said "no they were 9mm", then he changed it again to something else. then when he had to testify, it became undetermined

just to add though it doesn't matter since the gun didn't kill any one. it was the crazy man that did it

You're welcome.

The LE community is the. Whenever ant-gun people put on their dog and pony media shows, they always use women and children.....and LEOs. Most of society views LEOs as a trusted, authority. We should always keep in mind that LEOs can be our best friends and best public relations people. Think of a picture where two LEOs are standing around, laughing with a few OC people, dressed as 'normal people' with pistols holstered on their belts....on a public street, market, etc.
That picture would go LIGHT YEARS in furthering the acceptance of OC for non gun or hunters/etc. in the general population....not to mention in the LE community.

Know why a cop is apprehensive when they see someone walking down the street towards them with a Modern Sporting Rifle (AR)?
Because they are immediately outgunned. And they have no ballistic protection against it. That's never a good feeling, especially if you have no idea why the person is doing what they are doing and assumptions can and do get them killed.

Let's keep our friends and be friendly towards them. They are our biggest asset.
Cops should be completely neutral on the "gun issue" and follow applicable state/local law. I would appreciate cops reacting to my OCing just as you desire the general public to react to your OCing.....no reaction at all. Cops that makes contact with a OCer where nothing other than the lawfully carried firearm is the motivation for the contact is no asset to the gun community. Those cops did not have to make contact with those two citizens in the op, yet those cops did.

Your calls for CC are the "LE view" that I speak of. I hear it from cops regularly here in eastern MO, and MO is a OC state via our constitution. Your remark about OC was nothing more that a CYA moment in my view.

Actually, they kind of did... 911 was called and the police responded. Long gun OC may be legal, but it is not the norm. Like it or not, OC of an AR15 creates a spectacle. It is cumbersome, uncomfortable in daily activities and for this reason it is impractical as a primary means of self defense in daily life. By all accounts, the responding officers were courteous and professional. One of the carriers was nervous because of the police officers standing nearby resting his hand on his holster. Now he knows how some others feel when they see someone with an AR15 walking down the street. The officer was in no way acting threatening but the manner in which he was acting made the carrier feel "nervous".
Today in Green Bay, there was no officer response so far as I know. There were only reporters waiting for a sound bite and lookie-loos taking pictures of the spectacle with their cell phones.

Legal IS legal! It was up to the 911 operator to correct the caller as to the law, the callers should have been charged if they knew that OC is legal.

I don't give a rat's A$$ what the norm is, there is nothing in the constitution about the "norm". Police that violate the laws and constitution should find themselves picking up soap in a prison shower.

It was reasonable and responsible to ascertain intent. No laws were broken by the police. No rights were infringed upon. It was a consensual stop. The desired effect was attained by those carrying the rifle and shotgun. It got the attention of the police and they saw what the response was. The response was reasonable.

You can't argue with the constitution. We have the right. Period. If I had the quantity I would carry as many as I could physically carry

The supreme court has ruled that forcing you to carry concealed is a reasonable restriction. It ruled that the manner of carry may be dictated, regulated and taxed so long as you have the ability to carry. Like it or not, that is our reality right now. Just because you can does not mean that you should. Perception is reality. If you are not willing to wage a propaganda war properly, you are planning to lose. We do not want to play into their hand and have them make OC illegal in WI.

I'm inclined to agree with WW.

Behavior which is "not normal", but is legal, ought to be of no concern to the police. If the behavior is addressed, it ought to be done so only by the community using voluntary means.

It has been by the gun community at large. The feedback is to not carry an AR15 on your back in public. This feedback is being ignored. This has fed the anti-crowd and caused us to lose an ally like Starbucks.

Such is inevitable, I'm afraid. That doesn't mean that community feedback is useless, or that we need to turn to the police/law.

I bet you a few of those one-day "OCers" who showed up for "Starbucks appreciation day" (SAD) feel fairly dumb for misreading the situation so. (On that note, Starbucks was never really an "ally" – not that we need every business to be one, so long as they happily take our money.) Now would be a great time to EMPHASIZE to all concerned the difference between regular EDOC, and "I'm gonna impractically carry my AR somewhere impractical to make a point!"

Do you really think those asshats would have been posting their puerile selfies to Facebook if they didn't expect an echo-chamber to pat them on the back the whole way? If they could expect nothing but ridicule from the gun community? I don't.

The trick is to not let the tacticool for-profit crowd shout us down with their persistent conflating of "SADers" with EDOCers. Always be the first to point out that the SADers, to a man, were obviously not EDOCers.

CHOWDA, being insulting and degrading attacks on others in this forum will do nothing for the discussion, but make your word not worth anything.

And young white males walking around with ARs and shotguns in public, commercial retail areas in a low crime, white, conservative town makes exactly what point again?
I do realize that some individuals have quite a bit of personal angst. No rocket science there, but for a tiny, tiny minority to actively act out their personal issues/vendettas could be OK if they are harmless, like the peta bozos, but when they make their personal issues a PUBLIC one, they represent the firearm community, hunters, shooters, concealed carry, open carry, etc.

It's just sad--albeit predictable--that a few individuals with personal issues screw it up for a whole lot of people. But such has always been the nature of human beings.

If these people have such issues, then break out of their safe white bread world and go to the north side of milwaukee, put sling up an HK across their chest, and walk around the streets. Heck, put on a mask as the mantra seems to be, "it's legal", so with that low bar, they should do it.

The OC people that did it in madison, NONE of them said they did the dumbass long gun carry downtown. But yeah, they sure enough did attack me.....

So, I'll say/ask it again, "State street in downtown madison has at one end of it, the capitol building and at the other end of it, a public mall. These are connected by state street. So, why not on some friday night, have a dumbass or two don their AKs and do a couple of laps around the capitol, then go down state street and hang out at the mall?"

I hope that no one is dumb enough to do that, but I've never been let down by the me-me-me stupidity of some individuals.
The people that act out and carry long guns in safe places...where they don't buy anything anyway...

So in the Libyan fable it is told
That once an eagle, stricken with a[n arrow],
Said, when he saw the fashion of the shaft,
"With our own feathers, not by others' hands,
Are we now smitten."

if you will read the coroner report

The continued lunacy. I have no idea what coroner's report you are talking about. And I don't care.
I have no idea who killed dumbass jfk. And I don't care.
I have no idea if we landed on the moon. And I don't care.
I do think obama is an arrogant dumbass.
I think liberal/progressives are little above parasites.
I don't reload, so I don't give a **** about primers either.

Man, there is such a diffusion of thought here that it's wacky. If there is any one thing on this board for the 5 or so posters on this sector, it's "me, me, me"
Crazy stuff.
