My wife is pro carry. She will likely get her permit, but probably will not carry often, she has an Sp101 ready whenever she wants to though.
The best self defense move I ever made was not teaching my wife how to shoot a gun. We have been married fifty years and that may be one reason why.
What's an ANIT ? lol
My wife's been around guns most of her life, and she's hunted with a 30/30 for deer. However, she no longer hunts, and the first year I went deer hunting with her she accidentally dropped her 30/30 out of her stand about 125 yards from me and had a negligent discharge. Her 30/30's so old it doesn't have a safety on it, and the ND is what I think made her hate guns. She doesn't want me open or conceal carrying any of my guns out in public, and yet she says she still likes to target shoot, even though I haven't been able to get her to do it in the last few years. I held a meet-and-greet at a culvers and she was furious at me, because she thought I was going to hang out with a bunch of trigger-happy whackjobs, well after I got her to let me go and while I was there, I texted her one of the ladies that showed up was carrying as well. She didn't like that either. After Culvers, our group went to Wal-Mart and shopped, and she still couldn't see our reason for doing it. She's safe in the everyday routine of things, and doesn't think anything bad can happen where we shop. In all likelihood that's probably true, but the one place I don't like going into without my firearm is gas stations, my wife is the same way when she's withdrawing money from the Kwik Trip, she won't do it unless I'm with her. My sister was actually a cashier once at a BP and a guy came in, held a gun to her head, and demanded money while she had the cash drawer open. I think that's what concerns me the most and is the main reason I carry, because I don't want someone I love or anyone else for that matter in a criminals hands.
So as you can see I'm in a weird situation, I'm thinking when this law goes live if she hasn't changed her mind I'll continue to carry when she's not with me, but at times when she is, I'll just carry a smaller, more concealable gun. We'll see how things turn out though, I'm betting I can get her to at least tolerate me carrying concealed.
Some similar things here regarding Wife's thoughts on things. I took my wife with me on a luncheon meet at the biggest Culver's in the state. She then realized that we are normal hard working and average people. No people demonstrating and pushing things down your throat. That was the best thing I have done. She talked to some other ladies whom at that time were not interested in OC or CC.
Take her to a luncheon.
