Here in Tulsa DLOs office is actually in our building which is gun free. To date Ive not escorted anyone out of the office I do know the ladies would be quick to call us. They have huge signs all over the campus and their office door.

This office is in a private building with no signage on the door. The DLO office does not have a sign on their door either. Not the first time I've been there while carrying.

On a somewhat related note, stopped at Earls Rib Palace, Circle K, and Carters Pharmacy on the way home. No issues anywhere. First time I've been to Carters, it's a small mom and pop type pharmacy.

The good thing about DLO is their offices are usually inside of buildings where they rent the space. Though ours is gun free there are other places that may not be (And it sounds like yours is that way). The reason ours is gun free is because its a hospital and most if not all hospitals dont want firearms due to the court room scenario. There is a belief that tensions may be high with shootings, baby daddy drama, oxygen in the walls and the list goes on and on.

On an interesting note though Starbucks loves it when I stop in on the way to work and thank me for being there. Its nice to know no matter how the antis spin it that they have all but accomplished nothing and brag about winning the world.

Well has been close to a month and 1/2 since moving to Duncan, OK . Slowly getting back into full open carry ( unless posted and then try to avoid those places ). So far no issues. Need to have some open carry events in the area. Sorta meet and greet for the poor in pocket type people like me. But I warn everyone who does get to meet me I am a boring person.

Your welcome to join us. We used to have a great group in the Tulsa area but it fizzled out. I know I go to the range alot and had considered just organizing range days with people and maybe a bunch of guys could just have a great time some weekend.

Dont know how it will work. But either way I love to shoot :)

Having the money to go to the range is hard to come by for now. Buying our house and having some "fixer up issues " and being on a fixed income kinda hurt the ole pocket book. But Yeah range time is always fun.

You guys always met on Sundays. That was hard for me as a preacher I was always at Church or preaching at the nursing home.

HA just noticed you were talking about Tulsa. A bit too far way to far to join you guys. Gotta remember Duncan is a lot closer to Lawton. But thanks for the thought.

Well there really is no group any more I know of or could recommend for get togethers. Maybe some time we can get together or something in Lawton. Loved the Military museum!

Remember all the hoopla about Tulsa Parks and outdated signs?

Yesterday afternoon, my wife and I went to Turkey Mountain Park in West Tulsa to walk. (She's getting bored with flat trails around parks and alongside streets.) It was a bit brisk when we started, so I wore a light fleece vest which covered my holster on the way up the "yellow trail." About a mile and some altitude later, she admitted that she'd almost had enough fun, so we turned around. Well, it had warmed up some since we'd started, so I took off my vest. We passed about fifteen people on the way back down the mountain with my nickel-plated S&W Model 37 in a Safariland Model 6378 ALS (w/belt loop) holster in plain view. No one said a thing about it even though it sorta hangs out there away from my body compared to my usual CC holsters, not even the children who tend to notice shiny things at their eye level.

Took my daughter to the new Gander Mountain in west Tulsa last night. As far as I saw, I was the only OC in the store. We were only there for about 20 minutes, so there could have been others. Nobody said anything and very few noticed. Those that did just glanced at it then moved on. At one point a TCSO was walking through the store looking like he was looking for someone. He walked right past me, on the side I wear my G23, and he didn't even glance in my direction. Stopped at the front on my way out to buy some Girl Scout cookies and talked to the troop leader a while, (a friend from school). Went to Chik-fil-A for a quick dinner on our way home. There was a school spirit event there so the place was packed. Again, nobody said anything and only one or two gave me a second look.

I keep telling people not to worry about people noticing and reacting poorly to open carry because most folks are too wrapped up in their own little worlds to even notice. Now, if you're wearing a 7½ inch nickel-plated Colt SAA with Tiffany grips in a tied-down holster on a buscadero belt with silver conchos and spots all over it, you might attract some attention, but that's about it. Since open carry became legal in Oklahoma, I have had one (1) negative encounter, and that was while coming out of our local WalMart Neighborhood Market when a woman demanded :cuss: to know why I was carrying a gun. I told her I wasn't;...

...I was carrying two guns. While she was spluttering, I pushed my shopping cart around her and went to my truck.

Well, the wife and I just went through our SDA class. I'm going this week to apply for my permit. After having carried in CO for the last 4 years, I can tell you that I've felt naked walking around your fine state without my firearm. I haven't seen an OC'ers here in Lawton since I've been here but I know once I get my permit, they'll be at least 1

Carried in a new local restaurant/store, Hannah's in Bethel, OK. Wife and I went to eat a steak, was really good. I was wearing a jacket but took it off during our meal, if anyone noticed they didn't say anything. I actually knew most of the people there, and some know I carry, so wasn't really expecting any comments.

I've found most of the SE OK area to be receptive to carry/open carry. So if you're in the Beaver's Bend/Broken Bow Lake area you shouldn't have any issues. People don't seem to really notice, and those that do don't seem to care.

I always carry OWB in a Safariland ALS holster, but during the winter it's covered by my jacket, so no other open carry experiences to report. Weather is warming up though, so I'm sure more of us will be open carrying soon as we shed the winter clothing.

What okiephlyer said. Welcome. I was stationed at Fort Carson and open carried all over the state in the 1980's, except for Denver, Boulder, and Manitou Springs. Manitou Springs PD would hassle open carriers with "disturbing the peace" and "creating a public nuisance" charges.

Now it's just Denver. The Manitou Springs PD got better after CSPD got sued and lost.

Open Carry has largely been a rare sight in Oklahoma largely in part due to a lack of get togethers. I know early on there was dinners and such by a handful of groups but most of these have all but disappeared. I know since the whole Open Carry started I have witnessed maybe 5 to 10 people out and about in Tulsa and I have seen a handful in Oklahoma City.

By contrast I would love to see more but I really dont think its going to happen any time soon. The majority of carriers simply opt to conceal for their own reasons. (Notice I said majority not all)

I had a veteran refuse to shake my hand today because I was open carrying. He wasn't even polite about it. He said "I see what you got on your hip there and I ain't shaking hands with no gunslinger." Like I was Billy the Kid or something.

That is not even funny or cute - a majority of people are not so gauche.

Shows an extreme amount of ignorance and prejudice that reflects poorly on his character.

Really nothing to be taken personal. There are those who will not associate with anti gun people and there are those who will not associate with progun. Its a life lesson that if you take any subject out there and put it to a nationwide test there will be those who are for and against and will be strong in their stance.

It may show his charachter but we have to remain polite and allow him to show his position any way he choses.

Oddly as I think of it too. We really just have to be polite. The Anti gun crowd is doing a pretty good job of boosting our stance through lies while at the same time damaging their position.
