Just wondering. Ya think we could make a religion that would require us to carry a firearm, like some religions require carrying a knife, or wearing a turbine? It seems you can not be discriminated against in businesses, in public, or at work.

I'm thinking, the "Holy order of Piece"

I couldn't bring myself to join Jet Pilots for God because of the requirement to wear a turbine.

Same for the Church of Hydroelectric Engineers, and the Shrine of Superchargers.

I understand Sikhs do pretty good with turbans, though.

Roscoe Rosecrucians?

Church of the Holy Target?

Church of the Reloaders Redemption?

We'll need a doctrine and some hymns. It goes without saying that the censers will burn ball powder.

Our Father, which art in FFL,
Hallowing targets by thee aim.
Thy ammo come.
Thy will be done in a range,
As it is our heaven.
Give us this day our daily carry.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we defend against those that trespass against us.
And lead used for termination.
But deliver us from evil,
So that we need not draw down on anyone.
For thine is the glock,
the smith and Wesson,
The power, and the glory,

For ever and ever.

Amen-ition.

This has already been done, and it's even specific to OC. We just need to make it official.

Wouldn't that be ironic if that disgusting satire came back at them like that?

but you can only carry a S&W 586 plus (remember at the end when she kills everyone with a "7 shot revolver" )
how am I supposed to afford to join this "church" would my 586 plus be tax exempt under a "ministry of religion" write off.....

I am already a member of The Congregation of The Enlightened Pistolero (COTEP for short).

Unfortunately we don't have any rules other than you must like (preferably own) Dan Wesson guns, and we aren't technically a religion. :(

I am an ordained minister, you'd be a deacon I figure. I'd vouch for ya.

The Church of Holy $#!^?
The Ministry of Independence?
....

After service we would go to the congregation owned range, in the back of the church building.
Have pot luck and target practice.... Hmmmm.... If we put our heads together I am sure we could come up with an official religious script.

Thought shall at all times and in all places carry with you a modern day equivalent of a sword/pistol. For thy life is worth more than that of those who wish to enact harm upon you.

And all this time I thought that the only true church is the Powerhouse Church of the Presumptuous Assumption of the Blinding Light!

There already is such a religion although few who claim to be adherents really follow it. The name? Christianity.

Check out Luke 22:36.

And, yes, I do appreciate the humor in this thread.

I am looking for a church that mandates that you openly carry a firearm to belong to it, that way my work can not discriminate against me carrying a firearm while at work, because that would be discrimination based on religious preference. That would be against the law. I wonder how schools, courts, post offices, and especially local business would handle that.

This completely floored me. Great job! Very creative.
Since we are writing the prayers and what-not, I think I have a candidate for the hymn book: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4-h-Wx08kw

I like the ring to both of those names. We can vote on it later.
I posted a link to a possible hymn above:), and I may have found another, more somber one. Enjoy:
