That is a bad generalization to make. Criminals have the same distribution of intelligence as the community in general. That means some are really really dumb, others are extremely gifted, but most are just average. If those gifted criminals do happen to get caught, it's not because they are stupid, or even made a mistake. It's because the state has far more resources to expend in catching them than the criminal has to expend at not getting caught.I think criminals are just stupid in general.
