Yup. Looks like he, like McCain, has a habit of popping up & spoiling otherwise promising elections.

I must have missed something, was there a more viable candidate than McCain against Obama? Romney...Palin? Democrats would've won by greater margins, IMO, if Hillary had run the ticket and maybe had Obama for VP.

I watched some of the advertisements by Rossi, and he was mediocre at best...the only reason he got the votes he did was because of the dissatisfaction. A lot of Democrats didn't turn out because they are pissed, not because Obama...Murray went to far, but that they didn't go far enough. If you are going to stick your neck out there on the block, you might as well get what needs to be done before election.

That is one frustrating things about leaning left (everyone knows that I do!) is that Democrats don't push their agenda through like Republicans. I think Democrats should have said FU to the right and bulldozed their way through...they did on some things, but not all, unfortunately!

I am not saying I completely buy into it, they are just more convincing, makes more sense than the other side...if you don't think too hard the grape flavoring actually tastes like real grapes:p

The reality is it doesn't matter what side you are on, at the end of the day there are elected representatives behind the wheel of your life. Just another day in a Democratic Capitalist/Socialist system. There is so much misinformation and fear-mongering coming from both sides, it turns my stomach.

Always room for complainers on both sides.

I may not agree with your political views, but I like your sense of humor.

I feel like if I don't laugh I will cry. I think both sides are frustrated, and there is a common ground, but all the political maneuvering that goes on is not conducive to anything but partisan fighting, and the public suffers for it. We want our leaders to work crap out and want them to dig in, all at the same time. I like an elected official who would do what they think the people want them to do and suffer the consequences if they are wrong, fess up, and walk...not a chance!

The bottom line is that Murray owes her fourth term to the fact that her opponent was Rossi. What happened was almost the senatorial version of Obama-McCain in 2008. While I myself don't really want to equate Rossi to McCain, in terms of ideological bearing, I think their respective campaign's resonance with the people was very comparable.

I think Rossi ran a weak campaign and snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Shame. It basically was his election to lose, and he did (will).

You nailed it, right there.

What common ground is there? Where can the far left and far right get together? I just don't see it. Every issue of any significance is polarized.

"Pro-life," "Pro-choice." Both sides agree that there are accidental, unwanted pregnancies, that is a great place to start.

"Pro-firearm," "anti-firearm." Both sides agree that crazed maniacs and violent individuals should not be in possession of firearm or have the ability to buy firearms.

"Pro-gay "marriage"," "anti-gay "marriage"." Both sides--pretty much--agree that every consenting adult should have the right to share their life with whomever they feel inclined to live their life with, without the intrusion of government or other citizens.

"Drug war," both sides agree that drugs are in issue on the streets of America and that there are some of those people that need to be incarcerated while others actually need mental health and drug related treatment to manage their life-long struggle with addiction.

Yea, neither side agree on anything. Maybe I am being to general. Maybe I actually believe that all of those people we vote into office are voted in, not because of voter fraud, but because the majority thing that the elected person would best suite the job at hand.

BTW, I think that distortion of the truth has gotten way out of hand...taking what one side says out of context...implying that the other side is saying one thing when they are in fact not.

For example, I went to the range today and there was petition at the front door to be signed in support of stopping President Obama from getting rid of the 2nd Amendment from the Constitution; it is that type of fear-mongering BS that I am talking about.

We won't be seeing those "better candidates" until people start recruiting them LONG before the elections. Finding a good candidate is like finding a good employee. Sometimes you have to search for them. If you don't want to be governed by a bunch of Housewives, Lawyers, Real Estate/Insurance Agents, or professional political hacks someone needs to go on a recruiting trip. Encouraging people from business that have the brains to recognize that real jobs are not government jobs. They are jobs in the private sector that actually create something.

When everyone just sits around and waits for the next election, then bitches about the crappy selection of candidates, nothing will change.

And while they do this the vote they did not cast does nothing to solve the problem. You don't vote, you have given upyou right to complain about the outcome.

Whole heartedly disagree with that.

With the current two parties it's like being in prison, with two cell mates who inform you that one of them are going to sodomize you, they inform you one has larger genitalia and the other smaller, and the choice is up to you, who do you choose?

Me, I fight both.

Didier being anti-government handouts but then revealed as taking over $100,000 in federal farm subsidies didn't exactly help him.

I'm not sure how pro-2A Rossi really is. Better than Murray? Sure, but Rossi was just a 'status quo' supporter of 2A rights. I couldn't get any detailed positions from him or his reps on any 2A topic. Rossi was like many politicians - take the gun vote for granted and then do nothing once elected.

Surely Rossi's political career is finally dead and they can find someone better!

Initiative 1100 lost because the commercial interests funded 1105 and managed to confuse the voters with two similar, complex initiatives. Classic strategy and well played. Union opposition by itself would not have killed 1100, but unions plus big corporate bucks turned out be a winning formula for the WSLCB employees, the beer, wine and liquor distributors, the unions...everyone except the consumer.

Most of the time I tend to agree with you, but in this case, your logic and analogy are faulty.
Disagree all you want. By not voting for the lesser of two evils, your NON-voter or write in for a non existant candidate, becomes by default a vote for the wrong one. End of topic for me.

By that logic a 3rd constitutional party like libertarian is a wasted vote, I disagree.
And Although and the wrong one, is a personal opinion based on personal preferences.
So still don't see were my logic and analogy are faulty because I don't want to be raped by either one.

But let me get this right you choose the guy with the small member?
