Of course I'm still in. I'll be there bright and early, with bells on (or at least a 9mm :) ) Looking forward to meeting you all.

Howdy Amigo!
It says without going that I'll be there next Saturday. Assuming of course that my car is back from the shop. I got it in there around 1:00pm yesterday and ain't heard back from them on the matter. How long can it take to replace a couple of radiator hoses anyhow?

Regardless, I will be there even if I must abscond with the wife's car. So count me in. Can't promise to show up all bright tailed and bushy eyed, but I'll be there. And we need to leave earlier than most folks showing up. While I expect rise, I may not have a shine yet by the time we get down there.

So here is my itinerary:
Must rise, but not necessarily shine.
S,S,&S (if you ain't familiar with the process, ask when I get there!)
Administer caffiene fix. (prefer intravenous to save time)
Dress and arm. (remembering to wear britches!)
Assemble life support system. ('bacco, wallet, keys, etc.)
Purloin wife's car. (with accompaning abduction of wife hereself)
Load car with provisions. (i.e. Munchies and sodas)
Top off tank. (just because I have gas doesn't mean the car does!)
Head out on I-225 southbound.
Arrive between 60 to 90 minutes later in Colorado Springs and drive to the scene of the miscreant!
Aid and abet his escape.
Work hard while trying to avoid possible hernia.

That's as far as I've got planned out!

Blessings,
M-Taliesin

Thank you, all. I'm planning for an 8:30-4:30 session followed by the dinner. I'm very near Chapel Hills Mall, just to give you an idea of my general location. I'll be sending PMs to the volunteers with my actual address, directions, and a contact phone number.

If it looks like we'll be rained out, Sunday will be our makeup day.

If anyone's interested, I'm holding a garage sale the weekend prior, on the morning of July 9th. I've quite a lot of things, most of good quality and in good repair. As I'm paring way down, I'm keeping very little. Most of the remainder will be sold at Goodwill prices. If they don't sell at the garage sale, I'm donating them to Goodwill.

So how did the garage sale go? Is it starting to look like one trip with the truck yet? Any other update here?

Might consider posting the address here on day of or day before in case someone (myself perhaps) frees up from other plans at the last minute.

I believe since9 said he was going to PM his address to the all the volunteers, however, since he won't actually be living at the address after this weekend, I'd assume it'd be just as safe to post it here in the thread, so any last minute attendees can just show up. ;) Of course, I'll leave that up to his discretion, since it's still his home for a few more days.

Final plans

Hi, Folks! Here are the final plans: We'll be moving Saturday, July 16, 2011, from 9am to 5pm, with a 1-hour break for lunch (12-1). Those who show by 9am get a free lunch! Those who show by 1pm get a free dinner at the Golden Corral! Those who're here throughout will be fed and watered all day. :D I have two industrial Igloo coolers that'll be full of ice water for your refreshment.

I've PM'd the volunteers with my address. If anyone has any questions, please post them here so I can answer once for everyone.

Please Note: The covered parking spots are reserved for the residents who paid for them, and the uninformed are usually towed , so, please park in an uncovered spot.

Question: Can anyone bring a hand truck (wheeled dolly) or two? If so, please let me know asap. If not, no worries; I'll pick up a pair at Home Depot Saturday morning.

See you Saturday!

So how did the garage sale go? Is it starting to look like one trip with the truck yet?

It was ok. I donated odds and ends, but still have a few big items for sale, including a rock-solid 10" blade table saw, two rims, four tires, a high-end microwave, a combination dresser/baby-changing table, and a few other things.

It'll be one trip, if that. Mostly moving boxes and odds and ends from my apartment to my garage (next to my bldg).

Oh, did I mention coffee will be Starbucks? Courtesy of the complex, of course. :) Free for residents and their guests, and you're my guests. Your choice of breakfast blend or regular.

Howdy Pardner!
Yes, I have a question! What holster would be really great for the wife's new Beretta Px4 Storm 9mm?
ah, and another question! What do you suppose NASA's plans are for the future of manned space flight?

I have one small hand truck, and it is somewhat light weight. Meaning it can carry a couple of boxes or three, but a fridge would be right out!

The in-laws may have a heavy furniture dolly (I can't remember for sure.) I'll check with them and post the results here by tonight.

Since 9, we met at the Dragonman get together. I finally resolved a conflict & can help if you still need it. I also have two solid handtrucks - not appliance grade, but can carry heavy loads.

I gave you my card (KAI) at the event. Email me or PM me with the location details.

Thanks & see everyone Saturday.

Haven't a clue.

I can help you with this one: "Houston, we have a problem." They'd love to go back to the Moon as well as to Mars, but the money just isn't there -- not in constant dollars, and not as a percentage of GDP. Nowhere. Meanwhile, the cost of the socialistic programs in our country is several times greater, per capita, even in constant dollars, than it was in the 1960s. Most other programs had far less overhead (waste) back then than they do today. It's bloatware on a governmental scale, with the agencies being so massive that most managers can't identify and cut the waste, even if they wanted to. Frankly, there's little incentive to cut government waste. Most agencies operate on a "use it or lose it" mandate where if they don't spend 100% of what they were budgeted this year, then next year's funding is cut. Talk about encouraging waste! :banghead:

No worries, mate. No heavy furniture!

As for dollies, I bought a used 4-wheel dolly this afternoon, so we're good there.

Checked with the in-laws. They do have a heavy duty dolly, for any furniture. I might be able to fit it into the back of a Chevy Cavalier. :D Let me know if you want it "just in case."

No need, as all the furniture that's going to be moved has been moved. The moving crew I hired to do the furniture went gangbusters and moved a lot more than just the furniture, so the day may be somewhat shorter than anticipated. We'll play it by ear.

What's left are a good number of boxes and a lot of odds and ends for which I have boxes and into which this stuff needs to be thrown (real packing isn't required for much of it -- a simple scoop to fill and tape will do it).

What I was thinking is if things are looking like they'll take longer than anticipated, we'll finish the day, including dinner. If it looks like things will be finished around 12 to 1:30, we'll press through and I'll buy everyone a full lunch at a local establishment!

Either way, you'll be fed. Well. :monkey:

Plus, we'll get to meet some more Front Range OCers!

Group - it was a good day and was great meeting all of you. As I was discussing with you, the site www.nolanchart.com/survey.php. Go checkout where you might land on the spectrum.

Finally, I'll look at getting the shooting day get together we discussed going some time in the near future.

Thanks,
JSK

THANKS! You helped turn an arduous and/or expensive task into one that was not only manageable, but also fun and enjoyable! Between the jokes, M-Taliesin's renditions of "Back Home Again," which was just perfect, by the way, really picking up my spirits, and the OC comraderie, the day couldn't have been better!

jskp229 - we'll definitely have to head to the National Forest next time. Dragonman's nice, but it's getting old.

TheLittleMan - take care of your little one!

All the rest - hope you join us at the next event!
