New here (well sorta) but love learning from you all

HI, I OC in Chesapeake (well Hampton Rds) daily. I have not had any issues with anyone. Have noticed more males steer clear of a female with a gun on her side for some reason :banghead: I do like the :" I wont mess with her cause she is packing" comments.. like I tell them, I wont shot you unless I plan to attend your funeral, as orange isn't a good color on me.. they laugh and all is back to business.

I usually go to Wal-Mart on Lynn haven to buy ammo before going to the range, never had any employee say anything to me until other night, when after ringing up my purchase and almost finished bagging stating, "OMG your armed", umm Ok I am a smartass by birth, and said, OMG your right, you just now Noticed, you walked up behind me, around me, and watch me remove my wallet from my rear pocket and you JUST not see there is a 9mm on my side??? (other associate was in tears laughing) I however, said all that with a STRAIGHT face, waited for his comments. which the next thing he utters is, " I cant sell you ammo, it is a WALMART Policy NOT to sell AMMO to someone who is armed!"... Ok NOW I am dumbfounded. I have purchased ammo there every week for the last what 10-12 weeks, while ARMED.... and TODAY it is a issue???? He said, "it has always been like that, how YOU got away with it is beyond me".. oh yeah, my green eyes and shiny gun got me where I needed to be.. anyways, I asked, " and you would sell to me if I was concealed?" he said "there isn't a policy on THAT one" ... :banghead: (please know before anyone takes this out of context, not once was I rude, disrespectful nor did I laugh in his face, I was calm as could be..)

Ok, so once the other associate could get his composure he said he would escort my bag of ammo and mints to the front door, the shocked clerk was settling down. While leaving the escorting associate was asked by a manager where he was going, I stand there (INNOCENTLY as always) as the scenario is explained, and the associate was told to give me my bag of goodies and to carry on. I was told to have a nice night.

So ok.... can I purchase ammo while "packing" or not????

Thank you for letting me learn from you all
have a great day and
THANK A VETERAN

Had a good open carry day except for Toys R US in Chesapeake finaly put up the evil sign.

Then comply with the sign and demand extra assistance in the form of a security detail through the store as they are prohibiting you from being able to defend your self effectively.

The name of the game is to know the rules better than those you are playing against. If the opposition is using a set of rules to stymie you, then USE THEIR RULES AGAINST THEM.

Welcome!

To the best of my knowledge and my take-away from reading a bunch of other posts here, there is no such policy at Walmart. Some store personnel like to believe there is however.

On Monday I was sitting outside of a classroom waiting for the room to empty when I overheard the guy and girl next to me talking about guns. I gave the guy one of Ed's OC cards later on in class. Saw him again today and he told me he OCs all the time.

I know there is a significant number of university students who own and/or carry guns.

There were a couple of instances where Walmart employees thought that the policy was like he stated. In one case I think it was an employee that transferred from another state where that policy existed. I don't remember the resolution of the other case but think a talking to the manager cleared it up.

Feel free to OC at Walmart and buy ammo! I do it fairly often as do many others.

Welcome to the forum!

lol we can go together :) but on a real note with all the construction there I truly hate trying to get there...

Not sure how out of the way it would be for you; but, the Wal-Mart near Chesapeake Sq and the one off of College Dr (In Suffolk) always seem to have pretty good stock of 9MM...Wish they kept up their stock of .45 like that too...:banghead:

Insane 7 mile walk today, saw a few neighbours no problem, a dog came up to my dog and I, it didnt bother us(dog is a lab with a mohawk....) I put my dog in and finished my walk without him because he can not do 7 miles. He only did 1 mile and a half. I saw that saw dog again, started barking at me and got close, good reason to carry a gun! other than that all went good. I have seen the dog in the past and never had trouble with him. The dog went home just yelled go away.

I was OC last saturday, for a community litter pick up, with a county supervisor in attendance, in fact we worked together for atleast an hour, and he never seemed to noticed, or comment either, we had some decent conversation, while we were down in this huge ditch on Guinea road, picking up garbage., I was also oc in newport news park this past weekend on the campground side, spoke to a Ranger there while passing on the road, he did not say anything, about my gun and all went well.

OC while voting absentee at the Isle of Wight Voting Registration Office behind the court house yesterday. I was all bummed because I'm working Nov 2nd and you all had a thread on 'who will be OC while voting'. I thought I'd be voting by mail absentee but they had the booth all set up, ready to go. No issues.

I must apologize

Hello all, I must apologize to anyone planning to make it to Texas Steakhouse Saturday evening. I will unfortunately be out of town on business. The steakhouse is still closing down Monday so get it while you can. I was really looking forward to meeting and getting together with some of you. I will be waiting for the next get together. Sorry everyone.

Been M.I.A. For a Bit

Hey everyone!! I've been gone for a bit. Did a few months in Afghanistan and just got back on a swap-out with another individual augmentee. It's a trial program the navy is running. I will finish up my remaining 4 months some time early next year.

Anyway, back in NORVA and ancious to see how things are going! OC'd at my local Wal-Mart (lynnhaven) just last night. Went grocery shopping with my girlfriedn. We were in there about 3 hours. Got a few looks especially from the younger kids (late teens early 20s). One guy of did a huge double take. The next isle over, he seemd to bring his friend to show what he saw. Other than googly eyes, no one said a word. After that, went to Golden Corral off of Independence. A little more interesting to say the least. Guy with a buzz cut approached and asked why I was "showing off" my weapon (you can smell military a mile away so I guess it works both ways). I simply said because it's my constitutional right and a personal decision that I make everyday. He seemed taken back that I didn't lock-up and take it outside. He just kind of looked at me for the rest of the night but I just stopped noticing. Great dinner btw.

Stops tomorrow, the bank, Dick's, Wally World again, dry cleaners and dinner again somwhere else. This time on the beach. Better take a look at the boards, mybe theirs a Hampton Roads OC tomorrow!

Welcome back and thank you for your service! I was wondering if you got deployed since we haven't seen you for a while at any OC dinner. :dude:

Don't start thinking like an old fart like me! To me you look like one of the younger kids. :)
