It's about time the left-wing, commie, bring-down-the-government ACLU did something in support of our Constitution... even though it's against the ACLU's avowed purposes. Pax...
+1Lol. Commie ACLU lol. You realize no other organization has done even a quarter of the work the ACLU has fighting for civil rights. You think the NRA is going to help you when your civil liberties are trampled?

Read Timothy Ferris' The Science of Liberty: Democracy, Reason, and the Laws of Nature, on the confusion of right/left liberal/conservative and progressive/reactionary.

You tried to state that you agreed with something I said. You didn't, except in your own mind.
I didn't realize that when I pointed that out, that you would act like a jerk. Why are you being that arrogant LE that you are showing us all?
The NRA isn't a civil rights org, the ACLU is.
Gotta love the collectivist identity politic bigotry. Sure didn't take long. As expected.
No. That is incorrect. The NRA concentrates upon one Constitutionally protected Right. They both are. The NRA, like Naral or FIRE etc. concentrates on one particular civil right (which in the case of the NRA is also correlated with one amendment)
The ACLU focuses upon the civil Rights of citizens.PALO said:The ACLU does not.
If you do not fully understand what civil rights org means, we can assist you. But the time is better spent determining the status of the 2A. Historically, it has not been considered in the class of 'civil right.'PALO said:Hopefully this won't devolve into a definitional wank on what civil rights org means.
Correct.PALO said:ACLU, to their discredit, have a craptastic record on the 2nd. Iow,they have taken positions contra the RKBA .
Since the NRA is focused upon the 2nd Amendment, it is within their purview. Other subjects aren't.PALO said:The NRA, GENERALLY SPEAKING, does not take on other issues.
The NRA voting guide, for instance, only uses gunfight votes as a metric
... But the time is better spent determining the status of the 2A. Historically, it has not been considered in the class of 'civil right.'...
The NRA identifies itself as the country's oldest civil rights organization. They are not wrong in practice, even though the courts have not YET recognized the right to bear arms as a "civil right."
i would like to point out that the ACLU is not a civil rights organization, per say that it doesn't protect all civil rights. it is very selective about whom it will represent. just to say it must be in the interest of liberal/progressive views of the world.
having not taking the time to do research and give you a better example. i will use the first one that comes to mind is how the ACLU looks at the OWS and the TEA party. i saw glaring attacks and civil(bureaucratically) road blocks put up to the tea party, in which most of the TEA party simple complied. also, we never heard a word from the ACLU in support of the TEA parties.
but the ACLU not only endorsed the OWS, it also ran a campaign to raise money and support for them. i have called them on this lopsided position, but have not gotten any response
there are quite a few of these instances, but i have not documented them
