A couple of points here. First, violating the concealed carry law in Arizona is a misdemeanor and will not result in your loss of rights to carry a firearm. Second, when private property prohibits weapons such as an employer, that is not a law but a policy. You can't be arrested for violating a policy because a policy is only a pseudo-law that applies only to that property. A "No Weapons" sign on a store front is quite similar to a "No Skateboarding" sign or a "Shirts and Shoes Required" sign. If you violate the policy of the property, their sole option is to ask you to leave the property at once. If this is done by an employee, they can discipline them or terminate their employment. They could call the police and have the police escort them off of the property. The only thing the police could do is cite and/or arrest them for trespassing but unless the person has outright refused to leave the property in front of the police, made some type of a major scene, or been warned previously and documented by the police before, the most that will generally happen is that the police will just escort them out.
Third, some people mentioned about violent attacks happening at close range. A gun is a projectile weapon and not always the best one for a close range fight. If someone is trying to kill you and they are arms' length from you, it is likely not a good idea to pull a gun until you create more distance. I've always felt that creating distance between you and an attacker is one of the best skills you can have in a fight. If you are too close to your attacker and you pull a gun, you stand a chance of the attacker knocking it out of your hand, grabbing it, and creating distance with your gun which obviously would not help you. Even if you did get several shots off, if the person is still alive and has your gun, he could still shoot you. That is why I've felt it is good to carry another weapon in addition to your gun. A knife is an excellent tool. Just as the bad guy say is about to smash you over the head with a wine bottle, you could quickly pull a knife and slash at him. If he grabs the knife, he will likely be cut in the process and since the knife requires close contact for its effectiveness, while this is going on, you will have already backed up, created the necessary distance, pulled your gun, and finished him off. Most people seem to feel that guns are the only useful weapon but they certainly are not. Even in home defense, if the burgular is say 20 feet from you then a shotgun would make perfect sense. If he is already two feet away from grabbing your wife or children, a sword would be amazingly useful and before he knew what was happening, he'd be done.
