There are countless iterations of socialism, but this is true for all those I'm currently aware of except one--communism. That is the only form I know of that truly operates through force, the rest rely on voluntary cooperation.

Thank you for finding forms I was unaware of, but that in no way invalidates my post or rewrites the definition of socialism. I've been trying to remind myself lately why I joined this forum knowing that I can count the similarities between myself and any other member here on one hand, but the reason has eluded me. Further still I assumed it hadn't been overrun with ignorance and irrationality, but it's painfully obvious I was wrong. Enjoy your delusions.

Socialism is actually the practice of free people voluntarily offering their goods and services up to a collective pool which each member of the community may draw from. There are countless iterations of socialism, but this is true for all those I'm currently aware of except one--communism. That is the only form I know of that truly operates through force, the rest rely on voluntary cooperation. Two good examples of socialist practices done right would be the Pilgrims and the Amish. I always thought it ironic that my grandpa would curse socialism in one breath just to fondly look back on a time when the community would come together to rebuild a barn lost in a fire or provide food for a family after the father died in the next. All of you apparently come from the same school of thought.

Alright, so what is it called when the goods and services of one group are stolen by the government on behalf of another group?

Some of the pilgrims experimented with socialism/communism (the only difference I can find is the spelling of the name) give everything take only what you need sorta thing. Those that tried it quickly FAILED. I believe that the people are correctly pointing out that you cannot have the socialism that you wish to speak of so long as the government is running it. Although I do find it funny that I am one of a minority that has read the federal tax law on this subject.

You should read Plato's republic. It's a perfect communist/socialist world. He even admits that it would quickly fail.

I was also ammused by this, but you beat me too it. What's even funnier that you didn't point out is that the psuedointellectual troll used the term xenophobia in a context where it couldn't possibly apply. It must be a new word he learned in libtard school.

Isn't pulling out the race card a popular socialist tactic? Even Hitler did it.

Folks, stop entertaining Animus. Like Beretta, he has absolutely nothing concrete or specific to offer. Any request for definitions or justifications is first intentionally misconstrued, then scorned, then ignored. He can't possible provide rational basis for his assertions and conclusions, because there isn't any. Instead, everything is false assertion, misstatement, emotional ploy, and changing the subject.

Please stop playing his game.

Still wrong. My corrections follow.

The only true portion of this entire post.

MY correction:

Socialism, as a political ideology practiced by the group in power on the general population is NOT a "voluntary sharing". Just ask the millions who died because they didn't want to share what they'd earned by the sweat of their brow.

Animus, it's nice that you feel so deeply, but you also need to THINK before you type.

How about a cite for a socialist country that operates without taxes and only voluntary transfers of wealth for redistribution.

I'm guessing the bed wetter "thinks" he won the argument merely by calling everyone ignorant and irrational before running away, but I suspect he at least subconsciously understands that he's made a complete fool of himself and will hopefully find another site full of like minded bed wetters. They will regurgitate the same utopian idiocy and tell each other how smart they are, and how stupid the rest of the world is.

Personally I say good riddance, we have enough liberals here as it is and that idiot made them look (worse) bad. MENSA my ass.

If people haven't seen "George Ought to Help," I think it makes some good points on the subject of people saying it's bad to force people to do things against their will but then think it's ok to have government use force on those people instead.
