Doctors office in a tizzy after I left a copy of "American Rifleman" in waiting room

The porno analogy actually got me thinking. It would be absolutely appropriate to find out if an employee left it--and taking action against him if he did! A porno magazine would surely not present the professional image that the doctor would like to portray.

So, would the same apply to a firearms magazine? Absolutely. If the magazine does not present the image the doctor wants, he should find out if one of his employees put it there and take action if he did.

I wouldn't want porno in my office. I would probably leave some of my own firearms magazines. But I absolutely respect the right of the doctor to make the choice. He may be making it because he is an ignorant, emotional hoplophobe, or he may be considering the impact it would have on his patient base.

I would have to say you are right, my analogy was far fetched in looking at it....but to get closer to the point, I have seen sports illustrated swimsuit editions in pediatrician offices before. Is that much different? In most cases, everything is left to the imagination in the ladies' "swimsuits". Understandably, they have the choice to put whatever literary material they want in their waiting room...but I believe the root of the point is the fact that this particular office went out of their way to call a "staff meeting" in order to invade into people's personal lives. And since they couldn't get the truth of what they wanted....they went to great lengths to find out who the original subscriber was. This sounds Nazi-esque to me. They went to extreme lengths and wasted how many payroll hours to do this?

And for the OP; "Agree with what your saying and in most cases I do avoid Anti businesses. But, this is my childrens doctor not mine, I am not going to make them leave a doctor they trust and are comfortable with their entire lives so I can make a political point. I made my point and if this all falls by the wayside, so be it. But if on some future appointment I am singled out for reprimand over this nonsense...we may have to look elsewhere. Who knows they may refuse a future appointment."

Another individual commented farther down form your post, something to the tune of "your kids are young, and will live and adapt to a different doctor". And this is true. They will probably forget the original doc altogether in a year....even less. But once again, yours is an example of how we just make excuses for why we maintain the status quo (not trying to be cocky or rude, just reinforcing a point).

I agree.
Simply asking everyone if they know who brought in the magazine would be sufficient.

A good reason not to leave the room.
Once they're adolescents, they can understand propaganda, & know what questions not to answer ("you'll have to ask my dad that"), and will probably start to develop body shame (which is a shame), so it'd be OK not to be there.

Education. It's a good thing.

Not at the expense of one's ability to make a living. If I ran a practice in a blue neighborhood with mostly blue clients, I wouldn't allow red magazines on the coffee table. I wouldn't allow blue ones either. There'd be a lot of Highlights, Reader's Digests, and Ladies Home and Garden lying about.

To everything, turn, turn, turn, there is a season, turn, turn, turn. There is a time to proselytize and a time to take care of business.

Why in anyone in their right mind have a practice in a blue neighborhood? Better yet why would anyone live in a blue state that doesn't believe in the US Constitution and be taxed to death to give (say) free college education to illegals as well as other freebies?

"Sorry Sarcasm hasn't been repressed by my coffee yet".....

You don't understand Liberty. I don't really expect better from a troll like you.

While I disagree vehemently with a doctor for not wanting gun magazines in his office, I will defend his right to enforce that decision on his private property. I am sure that almost everyone else understood that. You clearly did not.

Moving on.

You have no duty to defend...so why do you?
