I'm sorry, but I do not see the problem with villifying a murderer.
I would tend to agree, but they apparently were a freind to both family members and this is a tragic situation for all who were close to their family maybe a little tact would be prudent.
He may be a friend but murder is murder.I hardly see the comment as particularly "villifying" him.
This has nothing to do with knowing either party or whether Melanie Hain was a hero or a fool. She appears to clearly be a victim, pure and simple. It is certainly NOT an anti's smart move to grasp it as a story to properly illustrate the need for increased gun control and reliance on LEO's with regard to their own stability and ability to protect citizens.
BTW, my understanding is that the husband is a State Parole/Probation officer rather than a "policeman". Unless the news is misreporting this, we should properly ID him as such, and avoidusing it as an example of LEO skills and more of one where we should not necessarily trust the skills of those issued guns by the government to protect themselves and others.
The reports on this event seem to pretty wellpaint a pictureof an unstablehusband who lost control and murdered his wife. There is little way this can be spun into a sympathy vote for the husband or gun control. He may well have been sick or distraught, but this situation points up the fact that we are unable to rely on anyone other than ourselves for protection.
It also reminds us that wearing a gun to a soccer game, at Kohl'sor while sitting at home using your PC is not stupid.
