Went to G&A yesterday.....it's a little far but still my favorite gun store in the NOVA area. In Richmond I LOVE Greentop. I could get lost in there for days looking through everything. Both are great. :)

As some of you all know I work at G&A, and since there has been a bit of a run on certain arms, I was wondering if anyone from the forum was looking for anything like ARs, AKs or magazines or lowers? With high demand for those items, I'd like to give my OCDO friends first crack at the good stuff or if you are looking for something let me know.

LW - can you get me a lefty AR upper cheaper than me dealing direct with Stag?
That is a very good question. A follow--up: how many are needed for a "group buy" to get a discount? ;)
I can use at least one. But if the price is right I might be able to go two or three different uppers.
I'll talk to the Bossman and see if he's interested.
Just curious, any word on that? If not I'll just place an order in a couple of days.

Until the panic buying stops, AR's and anything that was banned the last time are going to be hard to get. When the pipeline refills it will be a trickle compared to prior availability. If I was a betting man I would bet the prices will increase with the new inventory coming into the pipeline. As some have seen, there is some price gouging happening with inventory that was already in the pipeline.

My point? Don't expect a discount. Is a Merchant motivated to give you a discount on 2-3 lowers (for example) when people are lined up and more than happy to pay the tag price? I'll be happy to see the prices not go through the roof.

I wasn't gonna say anything; but I had to get a trifecta on 10 Nov.

I think VAOpenCarry has a point.

Happy Birthday, guys.

Sounds about right. No discount on the trickle after. I've already got my lowers. It would seem those will become more scarce in the pipeline as well as fully assembled. They do need an FFL xfer. But uppers should be easier to find, and possibly at a discount as they are not restricted sales only through an FFL.

Please pardon me for asking... is there a primer web site for AR newbies somewhere? Uppers... Lowers... sounds kinda like dentures we're talking about here...

Yes, I'm new... but eager to learn... I can figure these are different parts... but have yet to see why you'd want or need more than one of either.

Not a problem. But basically, if you have a complete lower you can interchange different configuration uppers onto it, even change calibre. You may buy recievers and build from the ground up, or purchase 'complete' halves if you are lazy like me but still want to change up things, or purchase completely configured weapons.

Learn about 'em:

TFred,

ARFCOM probably has the best resources for building:

http://www.ar15.com/forums/forum.html?b=3&f=4

If you have any questions, you can PM me and I am sure there are others that have built AR's. If you are the least mechanically inclined you will be able to get it done!

Your basic parts list is:

1) AR lower
2) lower parts kit, most come with a grip
3) stock, buffter tube, buffer, buffer spring
4) fully assembled upper (you can get one and built it yourself, i never have)
5) bolt carrier group (has the carrier, bolt face, pin)
6) barrel
7) iron sites, optics
8) flash hider
9) lots of magazines
10) charging handle

I may have missed something but I think thats it

It is a good bit of fun to do! Plus, you get to really understand the platform and how the firearm works

edit; damn beaten by nelson!
