On Nov. 10th 2009, my mom and I flew to Kentucky to see about relocating there from the communist outpost of CommieFornia. We want to move back to America!
We are both conservatives and have grown tired of the liberalism that has turned southern CommieFornia into a cesspool of Socialism. I am a gun owner and NRA member. My main attraction to ANY new place is their gun laws. The "Brady Bunch" rate Kentucky lower than Tennessee, presumably because they view Kentucky as having worse gun laws (in THEIR eyes) than Tennessee. That means that the Brady Bunch looks slightly more favorably on Tennessee than on Kentucky, but I do not know exactly what nuance of difference between the two states earns Tennessee five more "points" on the Brady scale, where CommieFornia is #1 with a score of 79. Tennessee is scored at 7, while Kentucky is scored at 2, which means the Brady Bunch HATES Kentucky, and that is why I selected to visit Kentucky last November!
So we found a nice town we liked, Franklin, KY. We found a nice house, etc., and we are thinking of moving there BUT the one thing that makes Tennessee more attractive is the fact that your state has no personal income tax. My mom is not "rich," but she is comfortable. My step-dad was a wise man who invested wisely and left her comfortable. If she lives in a state with no personal income tax, it will make quite a difference in the bottom line.
This one difference we have found (so far) might be the deciding factor, but we did not spend any time in Tennessee on that trip, because we were focused on Kentucky.
So ... I'd love to hear from you great Americans down in Tennessee! Please give me your best sales pitch for looking more seriously at your state. We will be returning to Nashville airport for another discovery visit some time in March.
Tell me about open and concealed carry. Tell me about your smaller towns and why we should consider living in your state. I plan to start a small manufacturing business and hire a few people. My mom will be retired, and I want her to be in some small "Mayberry" town where she doesn't have to dodge speeding motorcycles, brain-dead liberals and uninsured illegals driving barely roadworthy clunkers.
I will watch this thread, and thank you in advance for your thoughtful responses!
