Here is my reply on their forum:

There was a horrible trailside murder of a young female hiker in Georgia a while back.

So let me go over the usual anti-gun sentiments, because her case shreds them right up.
"No need to carry - parks are safe and patrolled by rangers, some of them armed."
Her death was lonely, unwitnessed. The killer led police to the body - it wasn't even found by a ranger or fellow hiker. Park rangers themselves are occasionally murdered, too.
"No need to carry - just learn karate, kung-fu, etc..." She was far younger than her assailant, fit and apparently knew some self-defense techniques. She was winning her fight against him, until she started losing. Somehow the tide of battle turned against her. She was tied up, smashed on the head, and decapitated.
"No need to carry - get a dog." Well, she had a dog with her on the trail. Instead of scaring off the killer or participating in her struggle for life, it simply stood by, uselessly.
