Full disclosure, I'm an anti-abortion, small government libertarian.

I believe porn to be degrading, but it's a freedom issue. The laws in Alabama are perfect. None in public including advertising, very strict when it comes to minors as it should be. Yet legal for one who wishes to engage in sinful acts. It's his life not yours, not governments. No ones rights are infringed, everyone is happy. I only wished we had more sense when it comes to other things like drugs. But like I say sense has become very uncommon.

I am a christian, it is my conviction that a woman should not cut her hair, wear men's clothing, or vice versa as the LORD Jesus Christ said. Should my conviction be law? Absolutely not. It is our duty (not governments) to teach/help others.

To many call themselves "Conservatives" yet are so bound on handing over their freedom and massively expanding government. I think this forum is leaning pretty far from OC.

Truly, yours is the rational position.

The only "right" your position infringes is the fictitious "right" to use government to arbitrarily enforce one's way of life on others. This is the same "right" anti-gunners would use to disarm us. I'll fight it every step of the way.

Well, at that point it goes back to the misuse of the word 'right' as applied to government. Governments can't have rights, they can only have authority. They only have the authority that the people allow them to have. They can try to take authority by force, but that is when the people exercise the right to rise up against the government.

In the name of protecting the children, the government, through the FCC, has decided what kinds of programs are 'fit' for viewers. Maybe I agree with them that titties are bad but violence is good. Maybe I feel the opposite. Maybe I feel that both are bad or good. It is not up to the government to decide what I and my hypothetical children can watch. It is up to me.

I choose to raise my children in a society where actions have consequences and you must confront those consequences. I want to raise responsible children capable of making their own informed choices for their own reasons. Not sheltered children who make choices based on a skewed worldview. I don't know what that political philosophy is called, and I don't really care.
