Here's the wording from Colorado Statute 18-12-101:
"18-12-101. Definitions.
(j) "Switchblade knife" means any knife, the blade of which opens automatically by hand pressure applied to a button, spring, or other device in its handle."
This to me says, in the law, that when opening the knife you have to use a device in the handle for it to be considered a "switchblade". As assisted openers are only spring assisted once you've actuated the blade they are legal. Everyone I've talked to about it and all the reading I've done on it has said that assisted is fine, automatics are not ok. Which explains why automatics aren't sold here and assisted openers are.
On to the original question, I carry a knife at 2 o'clock with a pocket clip and then my pistol sits at about 4 o'clock. I do, however, want to get a fixed blade knife and carry it weak side at around 7 o'clock or so.
