After so long of posting on OCDO I got the chance to Open Carry today. I arrived home and got a good look at all my firearm gear I ordered online, strapped on my XD.40cal in the carbon fiber Blackhawk holster. White polo shirt (not tucked in) then I went out looking for the XD(m) while Ocing. I called all over and no one had any Bi-tones XD(m) in stock. One dealer did not even know what I was talking about. Well on my GPS system I found a gun shop in my own city. (Never even knew it was there before now) The gun shop is call Rainier Gun on 10505 Bridgeport Way SW in Lakewood. I had to get his shops name out there because he was cool with my OC and I told him I would tell my friends about his shop. I walked in looking for the new XD. My XD stood out against my white shirt and blue jeans. He did not say a word. I left after looking at the black XD(m) and the S&W MP 45. HK45, and Kimber Custom Tactical II, which felt the best of the 4 guns from there I went to get insurance for my car at Geico insurance. While there I am sure the ladies saw my firearm, no one said a word.
Then I went to put gas in my car at AM PM no one said a word, no funny looks or anything, anywhere for that matter. I went to circuit city, the lady there had to bend down to find something for me on the bottom shelf on my strong side, and she said Nothing at all. Well while doing all this I had to go back to Rainer Guns, and a state trooper was inside. I saw his car before I walked in, and thought to myself I may have a gun pointed at me today, here we go. Then I walked in as anyone else would have done. Both the owner and the trooper both looked at me then the Trooper did a second take right on the XD. Greeted me and said nothing else about it.
How I felt for Ocing for my first time? Nervous the entire time yes. At times I was not even thinking right in some of the places I went, however OC is really no big deal. (If you are reading this and have no OC yet because of any reason, Just do it, it really is not that bad)
I really prefer to carry open, even before I found this site so it has been in my heart to do so for a long time and i just jumped in and did it.l It felt good, andpeople seemed cool with it, and I guess the word is getting around well. Thanks to all you who have faced adversity for this cause. You guys have been kicked out of places, insulted, drawn on, embarrassed detained you name it you guys have been through it. MY HAT IS OFF TO ALL OF YOU.
Thank you for all you have been through for us to come behind you, that the way would be made easier, and I feel the word is getting out. It feels good for me to do my part also. I will see you guys around.
