Oh if I could count the ways you were right in that post....
My kid (5) was given a cookie or two by our downstairs neighbor when we lived in an apartment. From that point forward, without saying anything to us about it, he was always "full" at the breakfast/lunch/dinner table... Then when he went out to play he would always ask people for cookies because...... big surprise..... KIDS LIKE COOKIES!! So this neighbor assumed we had no food in the house, and without even talking to us about anything, called CPS.... Who came knocking at my door, interrogating me, looking around my home, speaking with my wife, demanding to see our 1 year old, speaking to my 5 yr old AT SCHOOL and WITHOUT CONSENT OR PARENTAL PRESENCE... Speaking with neighbors, teachers, etc... Regardless of the fact that (to no surprise of mine) the case was dismissed as "unsubstantiated" I have 0 recourse to go after the libelous slandering son of a b***** neighbor who made the false claim, and not only that, regardless of their ruling, all the people who CPS spoke with now see us as a potentially abusive and/or unfit home and a CPS claim is now on our record... so if in the future (god forbid) anything were to happen to one of my children, or a child who came to my home, I GUARANTEE that will come up and IMMEDIATELY make my wife and I suspect...
